(Can we have hunky scantly clad men serve us? ;D)
RAB
Hey Mister:
Friday is good and the 40ish is fine too.
Buffet is also good as opposed to a sit down affair.
(Can we have hunky scantly clad men serve us? ;D)
RAB
I was actually going to ask if you would serve cocktails wearing nothing but the pink bloomers you received last year in Boston.
The PINK bloomers have been returned to their country of origin.
You have no idea what it was like getting through customs in Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand with that parachute in my bag. But that's a story for another day.
My original plan was to put them on Kooni and surprise Jan, but she wanted no part of it (the pig not Jan :P).
So I opted for Plan B. I cleverly hid them somewhere on/in "Jan Land".
To date she either hasn't found them or she has and is evily planning some sort of counter attack.
Either way, since I don't have those disgusting things, obviously I won't be wearing them at the Meet and Greet. And even if I did, I still wouldn't do it.
BTW--you're a bitch! ;)
RAB ;D
The PINK bloomers have been returned to their country of origin.I think he's bluffing.

D,
IMO that all sounds good, Im assuming we would split the bartender fee between us...which would be about $10-$15 per person.
Here is what the Stratosphere has offered us thus far. It appears they are trying to make up in catering what they are losing in room revenue.
$41.31 per person (includes tax and gratuity)
Private dining room in the tower for two hours - room rental fee is waived (I'm trying to extend to at least 3)
Chicken entree with potato and vegetable, fresh baked roll w/butter, red velvet cake, coffe or tea.
Cash bar with a $175 bartender fee (waived if bar tab reaches $500).
Let's begin by figuring up the cost of getting Jan and Will "motivated" enough to make their jump.
Dennis:
You've always given us an amazing time for the meet and greet and it sounds like you've done it again.
I can't thank you enough! :-*
Hi Dennis and others:
Is there anyway to find out if someone is looking to maybe share a room and split the cost? I want to go and would like to look at the possibility of a room share with someone.... Hope I'm posting this in the right spot..... Also, could you remind me of what the room cost is and what code we use to book (can it be booked online)?
Thanks!
Thank you Dennis for everything you put into these things, not sure we would ever find anyone with the same motivation and expertise as you have, all of which when you are not even sure if you will be attending!
Thx Dennis

What? Have I missed something? ???
RAB
Well I dont know, he says in this thread..."If I can make it to Vegas"

Hopefully he's ironed it out and will be there.
Dennis??? What say you?
=Will
I was wondering where the notion of me not attending came from. I thought someone was blabbing their mouth ;D
Dennis
Since they are unwilling to stray from policies to earn our business, I just assume we take our business elsewhere.
Let me know what you think.
Dennis
I don't mind where we have the meet and Greet Dennis, lots of great place's for a get together.
Do we still have the room for the memorial service?
Hugs
Jan :-*
If you all do not mind, I'd like to look at having our function off site. I have just spoken to the catering manager, and I'm just not comfortable with what they are offering.
If we want to increase our event to 3 hours, there would be a room rental charge of $200.
The $175 bartender fee, if we don't consume $500 worth of liquor in 2 hours, goes directly to the hotel as a labour charge. It would not go to the bartender.
Lastly, there is a $300 deposit they will not waive.

Let me know what you think.
Dennis
We would have our own room (Sun Room) at Simon which has a beautivul open air terrace leading out to a pool. We would have cocktail servers for drinks.
I'm waiting to hear back from the Palms if there is anyway to change the menu to reduce the cost. Ideally, I think Simon would be our best bet.
The idea I discussed briefly with RAB would be a "celebration of life" that would be more joyous in nature (while at the same time acknowledging our most recent losses)
Gary
I like this "celebration of life" idea. Perhaps at some appropriate point during the meet and greet Gary could start us off with some nice words and then he and others can regale us with some funny stories regarding Ric, Tim, etc.. I foresee lots of toasts and laughter, which would be nice.
Just thinking out loud here.
-Will
Jan,
I would like to do both events together if the venue is appropriate. The idea I discussed briefly with RAB would be a "celebration of life" that would be more joyous in nature (while at the same time acknowledging our most recent losses) and then could be done with the evening event. Given the more public area where we are planning the Friday evening event, it may not be suitable for what we would like to memorialize our friends and loved ones. At the same time, RAB and I are both concerned that a memorial at a separate time might be depressing and difficult for some of us. I certainly wish both events to be meaningful. If we all think about it, I think a "solution" will emerge.
Gary
My personal opinion is the meet and greet and memorial should be seperate. First, I think those who have passed deserve a memorial in their hono. Second, I don't think the fascilities I presented are condusive to a memorial. And lastly, there willl be alcohol at the meet and greet. Do yuou really want alcohol with this considering it has the ability to raise emotions?
Fri A.M.
3 members lost. Ric, Lisa, and Moffie
3 members willing to jump.
3 members now soaring among the clouds.
3 members willing to honor them by doing the same. (with a blessing from a certain certain someone)
Half of us on the platform.
Half at the base.
Expressing our support, remembering our fallen, and feeling the emotion.
Celebrating life by taking a chance. Celebrating life by honoring those we've lost. (Could there be a better honor?)
After all 3 have jumped, we gather at the base.
. . . . . . . .
not sure where we go from there.
Just some random thoughts I've been having.
RAB
Edit to ask: Too kitchy?
Nicely said, RAB... The Strat has something called the Chapel in the Clouds. We can be absolutely certain that it costs money. I will try and find out what an hour (I am sure you can't get it for less than an hour) would cost. The view up there is quite stunning and it does give us the experience of rising up into the clouds without that hairraising bungee jump down (although I certainly want to be ringside when Will and Jan make the jump!)
I will investigate and report back.
I had already looked into the local ASO and there was no facility like we had in Boston. Let's see what we can find out about our host hotel.
I have another notion (this once would not cost anything, but would involve transportation) and yes, it involves Red Rock Canyon.
Gary
As to the Meet and Greet... something as informal as possible would be fine with me. The setup we had in Montreal was nice with lots of space to move around, meet, and greet. Hell, we could have it at just about any restaurant and I'd be good with it. How about the nice buffets that most hotels have? Perhaps they have a private room we could use (just a thought).
(need bathrooms available at launch AND landing pads, please. Or else provide me with pads )
*sigh* gonna have to find an anti-wrinkle cream that doesnt melt.

dont give me this "dry heat" crap cause you can stick your head in an oven and that's a dry heat also, and that's no walk in the park.
-Will
All you have to do is remember to stay hydrated.
Slight hijack..OH it will be lovely for any of us coming from hummid places !
ummm, it was 112 today in Vegas. This pansy white boy doesnt do well in the heat... and dont give me this "dry heat" crap cause you can stick your head in an oven and that's a dry heat also, and that's no walk in the park.

I'd like to participate in everything that's planned if possible.
Absolutely you must!
To everyone attending:
Dennis and I have been in communication and it looks like a change is going to be required. He'll probably post something today and it'll be crucial (because of the time crunch) that everyone try and respond quickly. So everyone--please pay attention to this thread over the next few days.
RAB
So your saying I should go from drinking doubles to drinking triples while in Vegas? This should be fun.
-Will
I'm easy... Or that's what I've been told. :o
either one is fine by me too. I'm just along for the ride.
Little Buddha is reserved from 6pm - 9pm. The patio and pool deck are yours exclusively for the evening should you decide to carry the party on later.

Hi D:
Were you able to get everything set?
RAB ;D
Yes. Everything is all set to go for everyone on Friday night.Dennis - you are an amazing man! I am not able to go this year, but I want to thank you for everything you did to make sure this get together went off without a hitch -- I feel like I am going just based on how well you organized everything and kept everyone in the loop and allowed everyone to contribute.
Dennis
Dennis - you are an amazing man!
:)
Yep, he's pretty awesome. He amazes me with the deals/stuff he comes up with. He's a definite asset for the gatherings, and he's not half-bad to look at :)
We'll miss him in Vegas.

You neglected to mention the view of the pool area (and of course its contents!)
Gary
You noticed that huh? well I didnt want to overshadow the fantastic dinner with me raving on about the pool, er umm, more specifically the contents of. Let me just say that we had a private area just outside from the dinner tables that overlooked the most beautiful creatures ive ever seen (except for the females, which were ruining the view). It looked like a pool full of models, some of them looked like they fell off the set of the Jersey Shore, Jebus, all of them splashing around and giggling, it was a sight to behold. Oh and there were also 2 Midgets riding tandem on a scooter, which was interesting.
ahh, I shall remember that pool forever.

BTW Dennis,
Little Buddha was absolutely amazing, the food was out of this world! I want to fly back just to eat there again :) Holy crap, those damned Lettuce Wraps were orgasmic.
Once again, Good job selecting the venue :)
-Will
But what I walked away with will be forever in my heart !
:)
Carl
Our dear friend has post an album of pictures from Vegas. P.M. him for a link to see them. Thanks for sharing Carl!
