Title: Starting to worry
Post by: Hoods_48 on July 22, 2013, 09:57:36 am
Hello
I am 32 year old man living in Australia. I had 4 lap dances over 2 days from the same dancer abt 5 min each. I was fully clothed . I understand that the vaginal fluids are quite harmless but if she was bleeding and was having her period, could the blood on her fingers infect me if she touched my face with those fingers. I have a bad habit of scratching the scabs of the pimples on my face. I remember her touching herself. On your homepage it says that HIV can be transmitted through cuts and sores. What mechanism can prevent infection in this case. I am starting to worry since I developed muscle aches and tingling sensations in my fingers and toes in the 8th week. Do I need to test over this. Thank you all for your patience. Regards.

You are worrying without any basis in HIV science about these incidents. Nothing you have reported no matter what the details you throw into the mix would put you at risk for HIV transmission.

Sexually the only confirmed means of HIV transmission are through unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. That's it.

There is no need for testing nor for further concern on your part.

Thank you for your reply. But I do not understand how the blood on her fingers touching my scratched pimples within seconds not pose a possibility of transmission.
What could be the possible barriers?

Hoods,

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect. For this reason, you were NOT at risk for hiv infection when she touched your pimples, regardless of what may or may not have been on her fingers.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST FOR HIV OVER THIS SPECIFIC INCIDENT, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thanks for your reply Ann. The anxiety got the better of me and I got myself tested for HIV antibody/antigen test which was negative. This was 9 weeks after my visit to the strip club but only 1 week after the " symptoms" I.e nerve pains/tingling and body ache. Would it matter at week 9 if I had a high risk? I mean if the symptoms were due to HIV would detectable antibodies have developed after 1 week of showing symptoms.
I know how this sounds but is it possible to get infected if some spit from her mouth went into my eye and there was a trace of blood in it . If not , why? Would it be because a tiny little spray would not have enough infectious virus. During anal sex does a lot more infectious fluids get exchanged?
Thanks to all of you for providing this service .
Regards.

Hoods,

Your nine week negative is NOT going to change because YOU DID NOT HAVE A RISK FOR HIV INFECTION. Even if you did have a risk, you would have tested positive by now. But you DID NOT have a risk.

Forget about this spit in the eye crap. It's speculation. Unless you repeatedly punched her in the mouth, there could not possibly be enough blood present in her mouth to cause concern.

You do NOT need further hiv testing at this time. You didn't have a risk.

If you feel unwell, see a doctor. Whatever is going on has NOTHING to do with hiv.
