Yet another MRI
« on: November 12, 2006, 08:51:20 pm »
Well, I just found out from my Dr. that she has scheduled another MRI for me. It is the day after tomorrow, and the fourth one this year. In addition to the HIV, I also am co-infected with HepB. I had a biopsy earlier this year, the second one in five years. I have had cirrhosis for about 7 years now. The speed with which she arranged the appointment, indicates that there is some concern on her part. Usually, it takes a few weeks to get in. I know that there is a pretty good chance that I will develop Liver Cancer because of all this. I also know what the survivability stats look like as well, Ugly. It comes at a time in my life when things are going really well, and I can't help but think that the timing really sucks ass. Not, of course that there is a good time for such things to happen. So I don't really know why I'm posting this other than to get it off my chest I suppose. It's nice to have this site, and it helps for me to be able to vent a bit. I wish that I could go to a support group, but the one that is here is during the day, when I work, so that's out. Anyways, thanks for letting me bitch a bit. I'll post the results whenever I get them. Thanks again everyone.

Vent away, Carl. I'm glad you have a doc who's watching things so carefully.

The speed with which she got you in may have nothing to do with a crisis.
This time of year is typically scheduled very light due to the RSNA.  A world wide conference which I have the misfortune to be working this year.  All imaging departments schedule very lightly during this time.  The Docs, Techs, and admin. staff look at it as a kind of break for 2 weeks.

I would consider asking her if she put a rush on this or if you were just lucky.  I'd lean toward the later.

Hey Abqcarl,

It is unfortunate that you are faced with these sort of challenges. Writting it out is extremely therapeutic rather than keeping it within you. Start a personal journal if you have not already done so and keep track of your daily events. It is almost as if you are the star of your own movie.

I am sending "positive thoughts" your way that everything will work itself out for you.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the support, it is nice to feel like there are others out there who understand. The latest is that the test was rescheduled for this coming Sunday Night at 9:00pm. This is going to make work suck on Monday as I have to get up @ 4:00am.But whatever must be must be, as they say. I'll keep you all posted....

venting is good -  one of us or even yourself might say a word or something which might remind you ("trigger") of something important that you must do or lead you on another important train of thought

This is not good news.  I'm really hoping everything will be OK.  Like you said, you've been on a roll.  I'll be sending you some good thoughts.

And Sunday night at 9p?  Wow.  That sucks.  You're going to miss Mystery Theatre and the finale to Prime Suspect 7.
Not to worry.  I'll let you know who did it and what happens to Detective Superintendent Jane Tennison.
