Just wanted to know how many of you out there are under the 200 CD4 count?

Too those of you that are above 200 congratulation's are in order for you. Keep up the good work.

My numbers started out in Feb 2005 with a CD4=1.
Then they climbed to CD4=115.
Then they fell to CD4=112.
Today finally they are CD4=174.

At the present my VL=undetectable. :)

Hello Jerry,

I was under 200 t-cells from August of 2003 (and most likely earlier then that) until November of 2004.

You will get that 200 plus t-cell count, your not too far off right now. Just make sure to take care of yourself. Eat right, sleep right, and don't stress.

Mine were at 79 when diagnosed, and they stayed below 200 for the first 2 or 3 years.
Then they took off.
My last labs were in March, and I was over 600 for the first time.
You'll get there soon, I bet.

Hi Jerry,

The numbers thing confuses me.   :(  My numbers have always been good. Between 700/1100

Last week my quarterly results were 932. I've never had a detectable viral load.  ::)

However this virus has played havoc on my body. I’ve been hospitalized three times in the past few years. The Medications that I take are Hell on my body and yet some people take the same medications that I do and have no trouble at all. Go figure.

But then again, I’ve been HIV+ since 1982 and on medications non-stop for 14 years.

OK this is why my CD4 count was so low and at 1. I had to be hospitalized for seven days. I also nearly died on the way to the hospital. I took a leap of faith and opened the car door and was going to jump out going at 80mph. I had to be strapped down to the bed because I didn't know anyone there, my family were all there but I had no idea who they were. After that experience I woke up two days later. I was in an isolation room. My nurse that I had was new and was afraid to stick me for a IV because I was HIV+.

So my first 4 months were like living in hell, I went from 185lbs to 125lbs.

I can say today I feel great and finally I am getting my weight back on I'm 170lbs at the present.

Jerry, hmm, good post here.  I was diagnosed in the hospital with a CD4 at 21, and VL over a million.  I was quarantined and tested for TB.  Waking up and seeing all these masked people (including my mother) had to be the scariest thing in my life.  The thing that maybe kept me off the edge was the fact that my brain was so eaten up by dementia, it didn't register.  My mind was a constant LSD trip that only recently I am getting back.  Every Deja Vu brings me to the brink of tears.  That part of my life I will never get back.

My last labs I was at 188.  I am waiting for my recent ones today.  My doc told me that some people never get over 200 once they get to where ours were.  A quality of life is still available.

Bless all of us.

I'm at 188 at the minute, but my % is 20 so I don't know what to think really.  There are people here with CD4 counts over 400 who have lower % than that.  ???

I can understand that completely Jerry. I had lost 30 pounds. Went from 170, down to 140 pounds over a 10 month period. Believe me, I understand the weight loss, and what it does to ones self. I looked like hell. It's great that you have the weight back on again.

I managed to get up to 183 pounds, and with better diet, am now at at sustained 173 pounds. Still a little heavy, but I am satisfied, even carrying a little extra weight.

PS... You don't have any more desire to jump out of moving vehicles do ya? Got to watch that , can give you hell of a road rash.  Hang in there !!

I was at a CD4 of 35 last september (Plus PCP, Pancytopenia and some other crap).  Been on meds for 8 months, now they're 197 as of almost 3 months ago.  Hoping they are well over 200 at next bloodwork in a couple weeks.  Haven't felt as fit/healthy as I do now, in years.  Been undetectable since the first month or so on meds.
