HIV and the brain

Could anyone shed some light on how HIV effects the brain. Is it something we need to worry?

You might also want to check out the lesson on AIDS Demential Complex.

My partner has a fairly advanced case of ADC but that is quite rare.

Overall I think that it is something that you should be aware of, but not something to worry about too much.

Thanks for posting the link to that article.

Since my partner was diagnosed with ADC in 2006 I have read everything that I could find on the subject - there isn't very much and some of it is quite dated.

That article appears to me to be a pretty good and complete summary of what is currently known (which , unfortunately, also isn't very much ...)

Your welcome md, happy to help:)

Yes, it seems like there are no definite answers on this one I'm afraid.

here is another thread on the subject: http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=19528.0
