Intro/Looking for Support

I am a HIV positive African American female in her mid-twenties. I have been positive for 4 ½ years after a rape that occurred by someone I knew and just decided to start treatment after being scared into it. I have never been on medication for HIV so this is the beginning of a new journey for me. I just hope I?m not walking it by myself. What I hope to get out of joining the well project is SUPPORT.

A lot of people who are going through things without support from anyone in there lives and I am one of them. A lot of people can be there but not understand and I am looking for those who don?t mind doing just that and to offer the same. These are confusing times and not to say I'm special because of my circumstances, it's a battle everyday to overcome this diagnosis. Since I was just taking the time to introduce myself, feel free to do the same.

Hello Broken,

Nice to meet you.  My name is Joe and I have lived with HIV for 24 years.  I can tell that you have a strong will and a good attitude on how to live with your HIV diagnosis. It breaks my heart, to hear of your infection route, but none of that affects, who and what you are and in our eyes, all positive people are viewed as being equal.

I have been on drugs for decades and I live a great life, in spite of my medical challenges, because I refuse to be beaten, by some stupid virus.  You will find a wealth of support here, so feel free to discuss anything that is of importance to you.  You may also want to visit the Positive Women forum, where we have many beautiful and caring women, who will be happy to answer your questions.  The forum is designed for women, in that only women can post in that forum, however, it is open for all to read.

Take your time and tour the site.  There are many lessons that can help you understand the aspects of living with HIV.  Yet, most important here, is the caliber of our members.  We believe that we are all in this together, that there is strength in unity and that nobody, ever, deserves to be alone.  I look forward to hearing more from you and welcome to our family.
