abc,

Nine years is an awful long time to fret about something you could get the answer for by doing a simple rapid hiv antibody test.

Yes, any time you have unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse, you are putting yourself at risk for hiv and other STIs as well. While you being the insertive partner during vaginal intercourse means that your hiv risk is very much on the lower end of the scale, you do need to test. Just go do it and get it over with.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

abc,

Yes, you need to test. I already told you that. However, your chances of testing negative are excellent. You do have to test though - your hiv status is never anything to guess about.

Just go test. Do it. You'll thank yourself either way - if you test negative (which I expect you to) you'll be relieved. If you test positive, you'll be able to manage your virus. Hiv is not a death-sentence - but UNDIAGNOSED hiv IS a death-sentence.

abc,

Any hiv antibody test will be fine. I don't know the name-brands of hiv tests in your country, but a doctor will be able to give you the correct test. Just ask for an hiv antibody test. A test from a doctor or clinic will be reliable.

If your only unprotected intercourse was years ago, then you can test anytime now and that result will be conclusive. Any result is conclusive as long as it is 3 months or more after a risk.

And like Ann I do think the odds are greatly in your favor that you will test negative.

Good luck and keep us posted.

on what grounds both of you are saying that i will come out as negative..its because my sexual contact time was very less(5 sec).....or i am fine since 9 years (so long).......

what are my chances to come out as negative....!!!

Your risk was a single and very brief incident. HIV is significantly harder to transmit from female to male than the other way around. With all of that in mind the likelihood is very strong that you will test negative.
