I have a cold............
« on: September 01, 2010, 09:01:13 pm »
I have this bad cold...........
First my mothers caretaker came downs sick with it , then gave it to my mother ( 93 years old), then to my diabetic brother, then it came to me, and following now to my other brother.

My temperature without paracetamol, es 99.5
With paracetamol is like I was in good condition, just runny nose, I  cough sometimes  and about 3 times a day comes this  greenish Phlegm, but not very much.

I am on Bactrim everyother day, and probably have by now 201 CD.

Does this cold affect me like everybody else? My mother was sick for a week, and so my brother.

As long as I take paracetamol, I feel fine, and I can go on with the day.
Any advice?

Sounds like what I had , that last week in July, a summer cold. Started with a scratchy throat, Then cough, continually runny nose, lots of phlegm, but no real body aches or temp.  Took about a week and half for it to go away. I spent a lot of time in bed, and drank plenty of liquids including orange juice.

My advice would be as I mentioned above,  try to rest as much as possible until it's gone.  If you feel it's getting worse, call your doctor, to be on the safe side.

Well ,  as somebody who had 46 tcells only a few months ago it probably wouldn't hurt to call your doctor tomorrow to see if they think you should come in.

(S)he may well say no, you don't need to come in.  But it doesn't hurt to ask.

No offense, but ...um...you have AIDS (me too   ::) ).   That means you need to recalibrate how you approach medical issues, and the best person to help you figure that out is your doctor.

So... take care of yourself...

I was surprised recently by Dr. Gallant saying HIVers or people with AIDS are no more likely to get colds or flus or for them to be worse.  It would seem that once you did get a cold or flu, having HIV/AIDS would create more issues.

Well, I am getting over this bad cold , which really was the flu.
Influenza A H3N2.

After feeling very bad , water dripping down my eyes , nose, coughing, body aches, low fever, finally went away in 6 days.
I am still a bit weak , I didn't call my Dr, since my monthly appointment will be next week.

Its all in the local newspaper new flu bug in town in southeast Mexico, more than 12,000 cases , just in the public hospitals, add the private hospitals , and those like me that don't say anything , I bet the cases are well above 24,000 .This strain of flu comes from Australia, Southamerica, now Mexico and very soon in the states.
This virus is not in the previous flu vaccine from last year which I had, nor is in the one for this year, I hope they change the virus combination for this flu season , including this one, since its is so contagious.

Hello Roy,

Sorry to hear that your going through the flu. What you described earlier sounded more like what I had, but I guess I was wrong. That's why it's always best to check with your doctor, especially with your low t-cell count.

Hope you get feeling better soon.  It's been a while, since I had the flu, I've had some nasty colds, but I've lucked out as far as the flu goes.
