Well, I loved someone so much I didn't protect my own body and got infected.  Pretty extreme if you ask me.

Okay, back to the question... please, no anecdotes, no judgements on the statements of others, no extraneous comments...   Please answer the question for yourself, and nobody else.

NB. Any advice about HIV is given in addition to your own medical advice and not intended to replace it. You should never make clinical decisions based on what anyone says on the internet but rather check with your ID doctor first. Discussions from the internet are just that - Discussions. They may give you food for thought, but they should not direct you to do anything but fuel discussion.

I would do anything as long as it kept me within the boundaries of what I regard as a healthy relationship - whether that relationship be with a friend, family member or partner.

If you want to know what I regard as a healthy relationship, well that's a whole other question.

Clearly, I would sacrifice my financial and emotional well-being.
I'm done sacrificing for a while.  There should be nothing in love that feels like a sacrifice.

Hi Joseph. When you say "for love" is that the same as TO OBTAIN love or TO RETAIN love or something else?  ???

I guess it would depend on the nature of the relationship.
I seem much more willing to go to the extreme for family and close friends (people I have a long history with) these days, than for someone I haven't known for a very long time.
Even then, I try to live by the rule of the flight attendant:  secure your own oxygen mask first.

Retaining love requires the consequences of compromises unthought of in the quest for obtaining it.

That having been said, I'm a romantic old fool.  ;D

I'd gladly give my life for either of my childrens.  As well as my wife.

Hence the term, I love them more than life itself.
LIFE is not a race to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in a pretty and well-preserved body, but, rather to skid in broadside,
thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming--WOW! WHAT A

I would be willing to live.

At this point of my life, I really don't think I would give up or do anything for love.  If you had to do one or the other, then that love is not the right one for you.  You need to love the person for who they are, warts and all.  Perhaps I am being unrealistic but it has taken many years to come to that conclusion.

I am in apparent agreement with AC,Bucko, and Jonathan. I continue to live only for my children, grandchildren, and my beloved Sweetie. There is nothing else that holds me to this earthly plane.

My answer: To continue to live.

SDCabincrew: Hear hear.

Hey Joseph: My longest relationship was 3+ years so I'm not the best-qualified to answer the retain question.

To obtain,  ::) the most extreme I did was when I was around 19 or 20 years old. I went to the house of a one-night-stand months after the fact. Rang the buzzer. No one answered. There was a surveillance camera on me. I hung around for about a minute and gave up. I wanted to see his face again for starters.  :D

I'd pretty much do anything for the person that I love. However, there are a few exceptions. If someone were to do something involving possible jail time, I would not take the fall for them. I will not do anything that will be  demeaning to myself. I think that if someone were to ask me to do so, I would seriously question their love for me, and dump them. I don't really have time for bullshit in my life anymore.
