+ test for pot on Atripla
« on: May 03, 2010, 01:32:02 pm »
High guy & gals,
I was wondering if anyone has had a + drug test for pot while taking Atripla? Before I started my very short time on it, I was worried that I would get tested and lose my job. My doctor said he could give me a paper explaining that I was taking a drug that could cause a false +, but then I would have to disclose my status.
Peace,
Billy

There are other medications that can cause false positives so if the doctor doesn't specify what the drug is then they have no way of knowing.

There have been previous threads about this, such as:

Sorry-  Should have followed the first rule and searched!  I did not know that other medications could cause false + as well.

Would your doctor have to disclose the name of the medication that could cause the false positive in that paper ?

The only thing the testing center can report is whether he failed a drug test.  They can't tell the employer so and so failed because they take medications for HIV.  With that said, what he needs to do is list Atripla on the form they give him at the testing facility.  If a positive is the result they (lab) will contact him before they contact the employer to discuss possible reasons for it happening.
I despise the song Love is in the Air, you should too.
