Possible HIV Exposure
« on: February 10, 2009, 10:43:35 pm »
Ok, this is what happened:

I received a rim job (I'm pretty sure he stuck his tongue all the way in), he also sucked/bit my nipples, but there wasn't any bleeding.  I did wipe my anus after it was over with a white towel, and there wasn't any blood on it, or maybe there was and I didn't see it?  I don't know.  However, since then (3 days ago), my nipples hurt, and some skin around the areolas has been flaking off (very minimal) , and my right thigh seems achy.

We did kiss for a bit, too.  That's all we did.

He injects meth, and I smoked meth.

I asked him if he is HIV+, and he refuses to answer my question.  Instead he says he is "clean."

I feel so disgusted with him right now.  I know he's lying to me.  I feel used.

Clean? I hope he takes showers. I know you were not saying clean to mean he is not infected. At no time were you at risk even if he was HIV positive.

no, i asked him if he is hiv positive.  instead of saying yes or no, he said he is "clean," and doesn't like the word neg.

you are confusing me, and actually upsetting me.

Not as bad as you are upsetting me in saying those of us that are positive are dirty. Think about it before you use "Clean" as being not infected.

no, you are upsetting ME.  i never said "clean," that guy did when i asked him whether or not he is hiv+.  it came out of his mouth, not mine.  geezus, why can't you just help me?  i'm already distraught and very upset with everything.

Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Son,

Not one person has ever been infected by any of the activities you describe and you won't be the first.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER THIS SPECIFIC INCIDENT, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

well, i went in for a rna pcr test and full std panel yesterday.

the clinician said i wasn't at risk, but his words have not calmed my anxiety.

i should've asked him about the specifics regarding the hiv test, but obviously i did not.

my blood was drawn 13 days after a possible exposure; would the hiv test be accurate?  also, i'm supposed to return in 20 days for the results.  does the test itself take longer than the rest to process or is my clinic just backlogged or something?  i don't get it.

also, i was given the hep a and b vaccine.  both my arms are in pain right now.

none of my anxieties have been remedied.  none whatsoever.  i am so upset right now.  i could scream.

also, lately i've been eating more, and have trouble sleeping.  so last night was day 14 (2 weeks), and well my ARS symptoms may have begun.  but i'm not sure.

last night i had taken 60 mg of Cymbalta, 300 mg of Wellbutrin (I hadn't taken this in 2 months..), 50 mg of Seroquel, and 5 mg of Ambien.  My doctor said to only take the Cymbalta.  Whatever.  I think both can help with my depressive mood.  I had NIGHT SWEATS.  They were awful.  Although I wasn't drenched, I was clearly sweaty.  In fact, I've been sweaty the entire day today.  One of the symptoms of Wellbutrin (when starting it) is sweating, but perhaps MY sweating comes from my HIV exposure.  I don't know.  Now my nose is itchy.  I need a drink.  I'm so stressed out.  Pardon any grammatical and/or spelling errors, I just don't feel like re-reading this.  It'll depress me further.

What part of "you did not have a risk" is it that you don't understand? Move on.

son,

You got ripped off good style. PCR testing isn't approved for diagnosing hiv infection - but you didn't need this very expensive test anyway. PCR tests typically take two weeks to process, sometimes longer.

You didn't have a risk and it's time you got on with your life.

i still do NOT have my hiv test results.  if i take a rapid test, would that be accurate at this point?  it's been 3 weeks since my possible exposure.

when they say 'swollen lymph nodes' does that mean painful ones or just enlarged ones?  On my neck, the right one seems bigger yet it doesn't hurt.  I also feel very warm yet I don't have a fever.  I have a dry cough now, too. Um, and sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night feeling very clammy.

Something is terribly wrong with me.  I just know it.  The lord doesn't like me.

Son,

PCR test results typically takes up to two weeks to be returned.

Once again, NOTHING you brought to this forum was a risk for hiv infection. Unless you've been having UNPROTECTED INTERCOURSE you've not told us about, whatever is going on with you has NOTHING to do with hiv.

If you feel unwell, see a doctor. There are thousands of different illnesses and infections that can cause your lymph nodes to swell - and touching them all the time to see if they're swollen can also make them irritated, sore and swollen. Keep your hands off them and let a doctor decide what's going on.

if i take an anti-body test tomorrow, would the results be accurate?

i've read that 22 days after a possible exposure, an anti-body test will most likely pick it up in individuals who do not have other health problems.

since everyone is saying getting rimmed is low risk, ok, then what about the fact that he bit/sucked on my nipples, which ended up being sore the next day, and some skin shed off?  wouldn't that be an entry way?

Read this slowly and carefully: Neither rimming or nipple biting and whatever else you have mentioned that you did with this guy put you at risk for HIV transmission.

If you have troubling symptoms that's something to discuss with your doctor.

That's the real deal and there's really not anything more to add to that. Perhaps you're new to being sexually active, which can be anxiety-provoking sometimes. But whether that is true for you or not, it's reached the point here where I would say if you can't let go of this unwarranted concern then see a therapist or other such professional to discuss what's causing such unwarranted anxiety on your part. We can't help you with that in this setting.

This is not an HIV situation. You are worrying needlessly about HIV.

Son,

Nobody here said that rimming is a low hiv risk, we said it is NO risk. No as in ziltch, zero, nada, NONE. NO RISK. NO. NO NO NO risk. Get it?

Nipple biting is also NO RISK. NO. NO NO NO. NO RISK.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Keep posting about this NO RISK incident and you will be given a time out, I promise you that. Please consider yourself warned for the last time.

i've had muscle pain the entire day, all over my body.
i think i have the virus.
i'm scared.

and when they say swollen lymph nodes, does that mean enlarged ones that have pain?  because my right one in my neck seems bigger yet it does not hurt.

Son,

Unless you've been having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse you haven't told us about, then whatever is going on with you has nothing to do with hiv. Go see your doctor if you feel unwell.

I'm giving you that time out you've been warned about. Do not attempt to create a new account to get around your time out because if you do, you will be permanently banned.
