wish me luck..
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:17:34 am »
Ach, on my way to the ER. I called to make an appointment because the side of my face has swollen up they said no appointment that I need to go in to the ER room right away.  So wish me luck that they just give me the antibotics and let me leave and not make me stay LOL.

Best of luck - but in most ERs that is highly unlikely!

I'm sorry to hear about your problem.  Could this be some allergic reaction?  Hopefully that is all it is.  I wish you the best and let us know how it goes.  I'll be thinking about ya.

Helllooo everyone they kept me about half the day didn't have to stay overnight. Can't really set up for very long though.  Kinda sick but its just an infection in my jaw.  Most of my time at the hospital was spent listening to the nurse take a trip down memory lane lol.  I'm setting there crying in pain, and she just keeps talking...and talking....

but, they loaded me up with penicillian and painkillers and sent me home.  it wasn't as bad as the advice nurse on the phone was making it out to be to me.  But, anywho thank you guys =) I need to go lay back down painkillers make me feel like crud but at least my jaw isn't hurting.

it wasn't as bad as the advice nurse on the phone was making it out to be to me.

Any infection like that, especially in the face, does require immediate attention so she was correct in urging you to go to the ER. Without treatment it can potentially lead to sepsis or meningitis, both life threatening conditions.

Glad to hear you are better. As far as whether you should go back, this is difficult to answer on an online forum. Is the infection noticeably improving with the antibiotics? Has the swelling and pain subsided? I think that would be the best way to gauge whether you should go back or not. But it's hard to say. What kind of instructions did they give you when they released you?

Have you been able to talk to an HIV doc about this?  I would be curious to know whether they thought this is something you would have gotten whether you were negative.  Has anyone said exactly what it is?

I hope you're feeling better.
