Backdoor feels a little...itchy. Should I be worried?
« on: February 13, 2012, 10:56:03 pm »
I didn't have any unsafe sex since founding out I was positive. But, I guess about a week ago, my butthole started itching a little...nothing major and it comes and goes. I'm not feeling anything there...no warts. I'm worried about HPV but from all the articles I read online itchiness is not a symptom.

Other than latex condoms the only thing that comes near that are fingers and tongues...could I have gotten something from that? Or am I freaking out unnecessarily?

I've had problems with itchy butt.  Colorectal doc told me to stop using soap to wash it, as many soaps can be irritating he said.  Seemed not very hygienic to me, but he said just washing with water is good enough.  He said to wash after every bowel movement.  It has improved a lot.  And he said to not wipe or wash too hard.  It really has made a big difference.

I see. So...itchiness is not a symptom of any STD whatsoever?

I might have hurt myself while being a bottom, I don't know if that's the cause of it.

I might have hurt myself while being a bottom, I don't know if that's the cause of it.

Of course itchy butt can be a symptom of many things, benign or rather serious. Including STDs.  Or other "non STD" fungi, bacteria, parasites.  Or dry skin. Or eczema.  Or hemorrhoids. Or needing more action cause you are horny.  ;D

If you don't have an STD risk its is probably not an STD.  But only your doctor knows for sure!

I'm loving some of the comments in that link. Particularly "have you ever notice that the word "Strap-On," spelled backwards, is "No-Parts"? Kind of ironically perfect, isn't it?"

I prefer the word "punting", as one poster pointed out "I voted for "punting" because it blends p(enis) with (c)unting, and because men always feel more manly when they're talking about sports." I like that even though I never use the ... ahem.... C word. I swear like a trooper, but never that particular word. Don't like it!

Problem skin should avoid soap.  Geez, you clean freak francines would have been the perfect market for "feminine hygiene" products, back in the day.

Considering the prevelance of anal dysplasia, anal cancer, and the myriad of other nasties that can occur in someone who is HIV positive, I'd say its probably a good idea to have your ass looked at.  You should be having this done every year.  If your HIV doc isnt..ask him/her why.   I would do that prior to taking any advice about walking around with a dirty ass.

Maybe, but whats the point in using soap at all anywhere on your body if your not going to use it on your rear where all the shit comes out? Let's say my soap starts breaking out my underarms...am I going to just stop using soap and hope the water takes care of it, prolly not I am more likely to search for another soap or find a hypoallergenic brand.

I had problem skin a few times in my life. Dermatologist prescribed soapless stuff to shower with.  It's not rocket science.  Cetaphil for example.  And I didn't smell.

But the OP should find the source of the itching, I agree.

The most common causes of bumhole itching are fungus, piles and worms. Possibly all three together.

I think you may have confused this with your gynecologist who probably indicated not using soap on your vagina could cause a UTI.....Sorry....couldn't resist.

There are several things can can cause..."cough" itchy ass.  Something as simple as too much acidic food can cause it.  So can funguses, worms,...etc....

I am a great believer in taking bathes as opposed to showering.  I'd try that and see if it relieves some of the issues.  If not, you'll still be left with a deliciously clean, soft, and tasty ass. ;D

Well I didn't get HIV because I was a barebacker...I actually only barebacked a few times with an ex-boyfriend, never with random tricks. (I sure can pick'em huh?)

And I focus on this because having a doctor probing your ass and burning away the warts inside your butthole doesn't sound like a lot of fun.

I don't get it.  Your very first post you say you are worried about HPV, but when others mention the high peeve lance of HPV and it's relation to anal cancer you kind of dismiss it.

Regardless of how you got HIV, the majority of HIV infected men (even the straight ones) have HPV and are at risk on anal cancer.

People are saying it could be anything, from nothing to serious. Only way you can know if you have HPV, which seems to be your worry, is to get an inspection for anal warts if its active, or get a blood test if its not active but you have it.

Getting butt warts taken care of isn't fun, you're right!

Just find out what you have, if anything.

Sounds like it could be something as simple as a yeast infection. Had a bout of red itchy splotches on my butt that I finally asked my ID guy to take a looksee....he said it was a yeast infection, gave me a prescription of three little pills (one pill ea. day). It was gone in two days and has not returned.

Uh, wait a minute -- just several months ago you said the rest of us were being "paranoid" worrying about this issue, and that you didn't have to concern yourself with it because you hadn't taken it up the ass from anyone else but your Beloved for 20 years.

... my how things change now, don't they?

And you would be correct about  taken it up the ass from anyone else but your Beloved for 20 years.

so I ask my ID-Doc, and she said YES, you should have ur ass looked at least once a yr. ( both of u should), and ur at more of a risk due to being POZ+ even if he isn't and your both having anal w/ each other, it sure couldn't hurt any , so she gave me the referral,  bob got his referral form his GP-Doc ;)

So what was her sad excuse for not having had you do this for the past decade?

I found this snippet from that article particularly interesting  ;)

Three years ago, Renata, 39, an editor, broke up with her long-term musician boyfriend because of his newfound interest. As he spent more time online, he began asking her to change her behavior. “He started asking for stuff that didn’t make sense to me,” she laments. “There was no foreplay, and I would start seeming prudish if I wanted it. I have no problem getting male attention, but if you’re dealing with a girl in a shiny pleather outfit with humongous boobs who’s a contortionist, you can’t compete.” He began requesting special outfits, and more oral sex. “It was ‘put on these stilettos and dance around.’ He would say things that were straight out of a video: ‘You do this to me.’ It was like having sex with a 14-year-old.”

Itchy ass... could mean many things. Ask your doctor for an exploration and a tissue analysis. It is recommended to do this at less once a year, to discart or prevent any kind of internal warts (due to herpes virus) that, untreated, could lead to a displasia and, lately, to anal or rectal cancer.

If you are hairy down there maybe it may facilitate a pore obstruction, little inflammation or even infections under skin, that course with redness, pain in the nearest lymph nodes and mild to severe itch. This is a possibility. Also, if you have cats or dogs, and they sleep in your bed, maybe their hair or skin accharus could cause you an allergic reaction in anal tissue (as it may occur in your eyes or nose).

To lessen the pain when going to the WC, baby towels are great, also, using warm or even cold water instead of paper. Warm baths (immersion during 30 minutes or so some two or three times a week could help) Also, using some cream containing centella asiatica or any other principle helping to regenerate tissue and with some antibiotic action helps too.

But, in spite of symptoms, the most important is going to the doctor to find out the cause of this.

;-)
