Title: NFL Playoffs
Post by: WillyWump on January 03, 2014, 06:29:34 pm
* For you nelly queens, NFL= National Football League

Sundays game at Green Bay between the Packers and 49ers could be the coldest in Football history, beating out the 1967 Ice bowl (Packers/Coyboys) by 10 degrees! Game-time temps is predicted to be -5, towards the end of the game temps may go to -20! THIS IS NOT WIND CHILL IT IS MEAN TEMPS! I dont think either team is prepared for that kind of weather, but the Packers would be more prepared than the west coast 49ers. It should be hillarious

The other notable game is Eagles vs Saints, in Philly on Saturday. Game time temps will be a relatively balmy 23. GO SAINTS! THE SOUTH SHALL RISE AGAIN.

And no one cares about the Seahawks.

If not this year, you folks will be buried in years to come -- thank goodness Comcast HQ is is mere blocks away!:

DESPITE a quiet offseason this winter, the Phillies have been among baseball's biggest-spending teams in the last half decade.

The Phillies' Opening Day payroll has been in baseball's top five in each of the last 4 years. In 2009, they were seventh (and third in the National League).

Following the agreement on a new local TV-rights contract with Comcast SportsNet on Thursday, the Phillies should have no excuses in remaining among the game's most aggressive spenders.

The new deal with Comcast SportsNet is for at least 25 years and in the neighborhood of $2.5 billion. It also includes the Phillies' obtaining an equity stake with the network.

I don't know how they'll play with their mittens on, crying about the sub zero weather. Besides, our newly semi-quasi-is he/isn't he out quarterback will be looking for a nice diversion from the media saturation of his supposed 'gay card' that he may (or may not) have in his wallet.

They're already decorating the bars in town for preparation. We take this $&@? seriously. Looks like the whole Fruit-Loop (Milwaukee gay district) is being hosed down with green and gold.

Bend over packers you're about to take a niner.

According to reports, a niner may just be an 'appetizer'.

At any rate, as cold as it's projected to be at Lambeau field, it will be painful for anyone who isn't half-Eskimo. Sold-out game, sold out hotels in a 75 mile radius, and I'm sure you'll see a fleet of RV's in the parking lot for a more civilized tailgate party. At least the Niners will go out in style.

The only question of the day left is whether a cheese head hat is appropriate with green flannel or should I stick with the green sweatshirt.

Darling -- how can you call yourself a "real sports fan" -- your "team" seems to be the closest one to you that is still playing.  We've been through the Texans, the Cowboys and now the Saints.  That is not a "fan" at all.  A fan is one who sticks with a team -- win or lose.  Of course, I understand how hard that can be for any Texas residents who would like to be the fan of a home team, but still.........

I was a Patriot fan pre-Tom Brady and will continue long after he's retired to his $50 million dollar home with his super model wife.  In the meantime -- the Patriots are clearly a far superior team to any that you've hitched your wagon to so far...........

YES I cant wait to see the drunk idiot with his shirt off and a frozen beer in his hand in -20 weather!

That's how it rolls up here. It's a combination of the game and the roll-up TO the game! Today, the tailgate parties are in full swing; cookers, brats, beer, and whatever else. Your ferocity as a fan is judged by your prowess as a tailgater. By the time the ball first goes in the air, the antifreeze is already in your blood. That and we haven't had a great year, so the fan base should be especially rabid today!

I wasn't insinuating that younger meant better -- YOU were the one who stated that Tom was too old "past his prime" -- so by your reasoning, your Broncos are even more so.  Just pointing out the illogic.

We've already seen the better team this year when the Pats and the Broncos actually played.  So - "BUNK" all you want -- because the Pats beat the Broncos with a team full of rookies.

The last three Super Bowl winners were wild card teams and I think Baltimore was a measly 9-7 when they went into mile high and beat the Bronco's on the way to a Super Bowl. Record means nothing when it's one and done.

Exactly!  just cause a team wins their division doesn't mean that it's a one-way-ticket to the superbowl

those Wild card teams mean anything could happen in the playoffs

Interesting how you keep avoiding the fact that Patriots already beat the Broncos this season.

Actually -- I don't think either of these teams will win the Super Bowl -- the Pats because of injuries and rookies and the Broncos because Peyton tends to choke in the post-season (he's 9W 11L compared to Brady's 17W and 7L)

Game day in Seattle.  Weather forecast calls for Rain, Wind, and 47 degrees.  A beautiful day in the PNW.
I'm going with Seattle and Denver for the Super Bowl..

With Seattle taking the trophy...

Are you people delusional???? The Seattle Seagulls are gonna get run over by the Saints.

Because I had complete faith in my N.E. Patriots -- I watched the US Figure Skating Championships -- the men's asses in that sport surpass any NFL ass.  Though I will admit that pic of Luck's ass is not unpleasant....  not unpleasant at all.

Of course -- he has more time to work on it now -- seeing as Brady SPANKED it for him and the rest of the Colts.  Bah Bye Indy......

I liked the Radio Shack commercial, that was funny.  Also the one with Don Cheadle (sp?) getting into the elevator with the llama.

Title: Re: NFL Playoffs
Post by: Theyer on February 03, 2014, 08:04:37 am

This is how it all started , I am complete lost are the Seahawks still involved ? or is Mr Wump spot on again.

deedee..deedee..deebeepbeep..deedee..deedee..deebeep...

**BREAKiNG NEWS***

This just in from an unreliable source...After a resounding victory and an amazing prediction for the Seattles win the Wumpus...after consuming quite a few DosEquis decided to have a party and celebrate in style

Seattle fans came from near (as close as his bathroom which he had nobly donated to those partying in the streets)  and far...some even traveled from across the street....

Opening the back yard it was a BYO....whatevers....

Many brought food....some of the Wumps favorites...

The Wump was even seen in his good luck fish thongs :

doing some grilling of his own:

Some celebrities were present..

even some unwanted guests who the Wumpus, having the manners of a saint has been unable to oust:

After such a night, the next morning was notably quiet as many were nursing some pretty hefty hangovers....

such silence. did Meryl Streep win again?

other unreliable sources have reported seeing the Wump making a call to Ms Maple the groundhog, congratulating her on her past performances and just in general rubbing it in...

and for some odd reason he had a hankering for something sweet:

It is unreliably reported that the Wumpus  probably should not have been driving so early in the morning after such a festive night:

where am i? is this still Texas? is that dunkin donuts up ahead?

other unreliable sources have reported that this is not to worry as this is not the first time the Wumpus has been lost and he always seems to find his way home...

We hope he hurries as the world is anxiously awaiting his victory speech:

FYI.... on December 29, 2013, via Facebook Notes, phildinftaudy predicted the following:

Seattle Seahawks win Super Bowl XLVIII; the Seattle Seahawks will go up against the Denver Broncos. Seattle will win (Score may be Seahawks 33 or 34 and Broncos 27), February.

So, I was a bit off on the score - but calling the two teams and the winner way back on December 29, has to count for something....  ;)

When you ,I mean U.S.A born ,bred people watch the "Football" on the T.V. do you recognize each individual word the commentators say or does it become a odd musical drone after 2 minutes or so ?

I am not the only Euro who has asked this , just the stupid one to ask it here.

American sports commentary is extraordinary to me. The flow is perfect no ums arhs but I end up retaining nothing that is said , it becomes like listening to Mongolian throat singing.

Theyer--I recognize the words and it does become a musical after awhile they go to great lengths to avoid the ums and arhs.

I also don't retain what they say unless it is "touchdown broncos" but alas I didn't hear that last night :'(     just lots of "touchdown seahawks"  :(

I know we did get one touchdown but we left the bar early and walked back to the house and in that 5 minutes denver got a touchdown  :)

There's nothing wrong with the way you are hearing it Michael. Sounds like a foreign language to me too but Mr. Wump calls me a Nellie Queen so maybe that's the problem.  ??? :)

Please, Mary -- Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally!  The law of averages still aren't in your favor. Just how many teams have you gone on about this season??  You were bound to get a hit eventually.  you best stick to badminton or checkers......

  Not even halftime.

Speaking of Halftime, what did everyone think of Bruno. I LOVED HIM! If some part of your body wasn't moving during his "Locked out of Heaven" performance then you are dead or comatose. also his "Just the way you are" got a tear from me. :P

Kiedis and Flea still look amazeballs, amirite!

hehehe.... badsmitten. Love it.

They call that plastic thingy a shuttlecock. Thought you'd like that word. ;) (And no, I didn't make it up.)

I don't know who Gerald is, but going by that double-barrelled name he's probably some posh git. Which I suppose Michael has already confirmed by saying he worked for a Eurotrash money house.

And Michael, heh... indoor ball-games was it? ;D

Back on topic - American football sucks. :)

Ann are you familiar with Sheffield,s finest poet and all round good guy Jarvis Cocker. Well one off his Masterpieces is Common People with the band Pulp, and that tells you all you need to know me and Gerald , it was a long time ago .

I would imagine that he is now married with 2.4 children somewhere in Europe , and at dinner parties his very close friends make coded jokes to his wild youth. Which in reality was about as wild  as Henley-on-Thames .
