10% of HIV/AIDS Money Should Be Spent on Research: The Sydney Declaration.

So the Sydney IAS conference has passed a motion calling for 10% of all money spent on HIV to be spent on research and development of new ways to fight the virus. Quite simply, in large parts of the world, HIV is spreading out of control - for every one person given access to treatment, 6 more are infected.

Without R+D and new ways to tackle HIV, millions of more people are set to die. I've set up a petition on the No. 10 Downing Street Website, calling for the Prime Minister to support the Sydney Declaration and to use his influence to persuade other donors to do likewise. I'm not sure if it's just Brits who can sign or not. It'd be great to get the word out and secure the future of HIV R+D.
