Title: Hep G beneficial?
Post by: renevatio on August 28, 2009, 01:34:22 am
I have been reading voraciously about all things HIV, as newbies are apt to do, it seems. :)

But I have come across some info that doesn't seem much discussed here about a promising discovery about a existing apparently harmless virus first identified as Hep G - later classified as GBC-V...

It apparently slows down the progression of HIV through some method, most of which has not been studied well enough yet to understand.  It must be important, though, as the University of Iowa has received patents for certain applications of it.

Here is a copy of the patent:

There are also articles about studies done regarding this possible approach to slowing the progression.

I am not suggesting that this is a viable treatment as of yet, but from what I have read it seems like it might be a promising arrow in the quiver of docs one day in the future...
