Am I at risk?
« on: November 17, 2013, 09:20:08 pm »
I am a hetero male. After a night of drinking with a female and male friend, I was involved in in some light play and receiving oral. I fingered the female both vaginally and anally for a short time, then received oral after she had given my male friend oral (not to completion). I understand the mouth is not the most opportunistic site for hiv transmission- but is there any possibility that precum from the male before me was present and presented a risk? Any chance of infection from fingering and slightly broken skin on fingers? Thanks for your help and all your good work! Bless you all.

There was nothing you did that was a risk for HIV so you can rest assured you did not get exposed to HIV with this specific incident . The risk factors for HIV are ...

Sharing IV drug injection equipment .
Unprotected vaginal or anal sex .
From mother to child during pregnancy or during childbirth

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME for this incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thanks very much. This site is a blessing for those of us seeking answers. Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation and bad advice on the internet. Thanks again!

Thanks . If you had a risk I would not hesitate to tell you so that you could seek testing and treatment if needed . Our volunteer moderators have many decades of living with or dealing with HIV support and risk assessment . No need to reply , save your last post if you ever need to come back to ask a question .

I just have one more question that I should have included in my prior post: I had protected vaginal sex and oral sex (giving) with a new partner. I was confused as to the testing timeline, and had a rapid test done at 3 weeks- which came back negative. Can I consider that conclusive? Or should I retest again at 3 months? Thanks again!

You never had an exposure. Reread the replies that you have been given.
