Pop Diva Scandal
« on: August 13, 2013, 01:16:05 am »
Ok, it is hardly a scandal.  I thought it was funny, that so many were so upset over this.  Several friends are posting this on Facebook.  The article says the internet is "abuzz" with people saying Katy Perry ripped off Sara Bareilles' song, Brave.  When I first took a listen, I didn't hear it.  I had to listen to bits of both again, and then I heard the similarities.  And, the remix of both songs made it even more apparent.  I hadn't heard either song, prior.  I thought Sara kinda sounded like Celine, in some of her phrasing.

Just thought some may find it interesting, on a night when there haven't been many new Off Topic posts.

I have extremely mixed feelings about Katy. While I like several of her songs, and the video for "ET," I think she's snobby. I saw a picture of her with Lady Gaga where she wrinkled her nose so bad her mouth looked like a cat's ass.

I like Oprah's Pursegate for coffee chat, it pushes a lot of buttons.
Anyway the new scandal is supposed to be Caca's supposed "desperation" that Katy is a bigger success. Though I find that sexist and probably not true. (That Caca worries about other stars....).  Plus Caca's wildly suspected multiple plastic surgeries, being hypocritical to her statements a few years ago.

I was wondering what Oprah's pursegate was.  As soon as I was reading your post, Entertainment Tonight was playing on the TV in the background.  How does someone tell Oprah a purse is too expensive?  Lol.  Unless I'm having déjà vu, I thought something like this happened to her at another store a few years back, while she was vacationing in Europe.  Now, I just need to learn who Caca is.  Gaga?

Speaking of divas, this impressionist performs "Total Eclipse of the Heart" in the voices of several divas.  I thought she was pretty good on many of them.  You can judge for yourself.

Now to the guys-- Many have noticed similarities between Robin Thicke's, "Blurred Lines," and Marvin Gaye's, "Got Go Give It Up."  Gaye's family has said they plan to sue, and Thicke has sued them.

The songs do share many similarities.  This isn't as obvious as Vanilla Ice sampling Queen's, "Under Pressure."  You can listen for yourself.
