I have to pee
« on: December 18, 2006, 07:06:18 pm »
...but I can't.

It just started this morning.  I have the sensation that my bladder is full and I need to go, and then when I try to, hardly anything comes out--and the sensation is still there.

Anyone ever have this happen?

I haven't been sexually active for a few months (or longer).  I've been on the same combo for years now (Sustiva, Combivir...also Neurontin, Lopid, & Methotrexate).

Any ideas?

Hey Ademas...

I do not want to raise your level of your inner anxiety. However, there is a need for you to be able to release these fluids from your body. Call your Doctor. It may be necessary for you to go to ER.

Keep us posted.

ademas, it could be a bladder infection, or a swollen prostrate. My ID doctor always asks me every meeting if I'm having trouble urinating. I guess it's not uncommon for the medication to cause it. If you look like your swelling, you will need to go to the ER or your Dr.. You don't need fluids to back up and cause other problems.

When something does come out, does it burn? Could be a urinary track infection. I would call the doctor today.

I had a bladder infection once.  Could only pee when standing in a warm shower.  IT FUCKING SUCKED!  Some antibiotics should cure it right up.

Hey Ademas

YIKES!  That doesn't sound good and is probably something you should have checked out.  Everyone has already mentioned the two things that came to my mind, either prostate or some bladder/urinary infection.

Get a hold of your doctor and see what they say, seriously.  And keep us posted, O.K.?

Ademas I agree with pozguy, get to the doctor ASAP and get this checked out.   Since going on meds have you been drinking plenty of water?   Get to the doctor and get this thing checked out.  Please keep us updated!

Sounds scary, I hope you get some relief soon.   I've been having a lot of trouble in the 'peeing' department also lately, ever since starting Cymbalta.   Other possible causes:
1) being 50 years old
2) having taken a trainload of meds for the past 18 years
3) history of 'non-specific urethritis'

Good luck, and let us know what develops....

Hugs,
Alan

Thanks, guys.

I've been on meds since '94 (crixivan trials) and I drink a ton of water (something I learned the hard way during the crixivan trial.)

Whatever it is/was, it seems to have resolved itself.  I woke up around 2:30 am last night and was finally able to relieve myself (big time...it felt so wonderful...), and today everything seems back to normal.

I have a blood draw tomorrow with my ARNP, and I'll be sure to talk to him about it.

Thanks again.

Ademas,

Be sure to take care of that if it becomes an issue.  My husband had to go to the ER where they catheterized him and probably removed about a gallon (or more) of urine.  Cause was unknown, but believed to be a blockage in his kidney (he had bad stones).

Glad to hear that it resolved itself on its own, but still talk to the doc about it.

Hey Ademas...

It is GOOD news to hear that you were able to release these fluids from your system. When you go to the Doctor, make sure that you bring it up in order to determine if there is a problem or cause for that. Take care of YOU!
