CaptCarl Update...
« on: June 04, 2011, 03:47:04 pm »
Hello out there-
I thought it was time for an update... I am home now with Norm and my beloved dogs finally! It fels so good to sleep in my own bed, as well as not having someone coming in every hour to see if I died yet. Hospitals are NOT restful places to be for sure, though sometimes they are the BEST place to be according to circumstance.
Being home is a mixed bag. I love being home with Norm and the babies, though sometimes I cannot have them around me. Since all this started, I have become extremely sensitive to smells. I will be feeling fine, and catch a whiff of something and be throwing up for five minutes. It can be anything, cooking food, something on the breeze, and yes, doggie breath. I have to be careful even when I kiss Norm, he has to take a belt of mouthwash first.
Mom left today. I couldn't go to see her off at the airport. Between the fevers and the diarhhea, it seemed that staying home was the safest option. We had a few long talke before she left, and they were all good. It was sad to hear her say to me that she hoped to see me again, and I know how hard it will hit her when the time comes. However near or far that time is remains to be seen, could be a few weeks or years. At this point it is anyone's guess.
I should say though, that I feel better today than I have in some time. I don't need the oxygen quite as much as I have. The fevers seem to be a bit less frequent, and less severe to boot. I even have had something once or twice that might be considered an appetite. I think that my appetite is my biggest obstacle right now, I am not eating much, and as a result it is taking longer to heal from all this shit. I eat when I can, but it can be difficult, as after I eat, I feel like crap for some time afterwards.
I suppose that this is the time to state what is probably already obvious: That I seriously doubt that I will be able to get to Seattle this year. I held out hope until I found out that the co-pay for my blood thinner is over $250 a month. All that money for the privilege of shooting something into my veins that feels like napalm.

Hope you all are well, and again, thanks for the continued support throughout this entire ordeal. My love to all of you, CaptCarl

I've been following your story and just wanted to say I'm sorry for all that you are going through.

I bet you're glad to be back home. ;) Hospitals, for all the good they do, are horrible places to be for anything more than 24 hrs. (I left a hospital AMA after 5 days one time LOL) I'm still upset and sorry that you're having such health problems. I sure hope that our positive vibes and good thoughts are coming through and helping you feel a wee bit better. Hang in there, we rooting for you to get through this! ;)

Well my dad called ne today, and asked me if I had found the silver lining to all this. Dad's convinced that I can find a silver lining anywhere. SO I told him that, Indeed I had found my silver lining, and here it is:

Glad yesterday was a better day, there are so many benefits to being at home, when you can.

But about that silver lining, aren't there easier ways?  I mean, we all know how sohisticated her email password was, somebody should just post some twitter pics....
