They are conveniently being flown to Atlanta.  I would personally be more afraid of becoming a lab experiment of the CDC.  I am reminiscent in the early '80s when some were calling for people with AIDS to be quarantined.  Hopefully they will find antibodies/vaccine for Ebola.  Scary indeed.

I have to say it.
Too bad the media and our leaders (back then) were not as concerned with the appearance of HIV and the hundreds of gay men first infected with HIV (not named HIV until later), as we are now concerned with two citizens and Ebola.
Can you imagine if the appearance of HIV and the mystery of HIV infection had been treated with equal concern back in the early 80's as is ebola today?
Funny, the priorities.

It's true , things most certainly MAY have turned out much more  less deadly .
But back then the topic of " Camps " for us came up , The thought did not go over well
with anyone I knew that was infected .

                                                                                    Carl

P.s. I pray this round of Ebola just goes away , as it has in the past .
Too bad HIV did not die out on it's own :(

Population angry there is an Ebola clinic in their neighbourhood so they storm it, chase out the patients, and steel the bloody sheets and mattresses.  What brainiacs!  Jeez!

Well it has arrived in the US of A.
Last week they quarantined a dude in Switzerland, an African asylum seeker who crossed the border from France to here.  Suspected Ebola but finally not.
Alas the CDC has confirmed Ebola's arrival in the Americas.

Not yet but that is advisable if there's an epidemic in your city.

Switzerland has detailed plans for how to control the population in case of a deadly epidemic. I read them when a number of years ago there as hysteria that avian flu could kill a percentage of the population, like Spanish Flu did.

Plans like which citizens are deemed essential to public health and security and would be allowed to circulate if there was a lockdown. Which municipal bomb shelters would be used as clinic and/or dying wards, etc. How to distribute food and other essential supplies...

Of course not only didn't avian flu arrive, and kill everyone, Swiss pharma made billions selling tamifu around the world, profitting handsomely on the well marketed hysteria and fear. ....

I've been watching NBC News coverage of Ebola.  Their medical reporter, Dr. Nancy Sneiderman was there.  The reports they showed had a profound impact on me.  People left to die in the streets.  A young girl left in a wheel barrel outside the clinic.  She and the cameraman were both suited up.

Tonight, it was announced the American, freelance cameraman, who was hired on Tuesday, has now tested positive for Ebola.  He is being flown home for care.  Dr. Sneiderman is being flown home on a chartered jet and will be quarantined for 21 days.  So far, she shows no symptoms.  I have to wonder how long he was there, before they hired him.  Did he have contact with people thought not to be ill, but who were, outside the clinic.

I have read some comment sections, where people are questioning just how infectious this really is, if someone in full protection could be infected.  Again, we don't know whether he had contact, while not in protection.

Profound and heartbreaking.

I think many are suddenly questioning what we are being told about about the potential for outbreaks and the true risks.

Being honest is not wronging others, continuing the dishonesty is.

Nope, Ted, it's true.
Sorry for having to confirm this atrocity.
I've stocked up on hand sanitizer and water, and as for the liberal darkness, guess I'd better buy batteries now too.

I guess they think Obama is also behind the anti-vaccine folks.  Looking at this data, people should he much more concerned about parents refusing to vaccinate their kids for measles and mumps.  Interesting data on how many infections of various diseases come from one person.

Its a horrifying disease and i forgive media panic wherever ebola might be suspected or confirmed....  Don't need the political spin on it, sure.
The theatrics of how pop media presents scary things - not much can be done about changing that - i think these are tropes been around since the days of popular newspapers.
And its a scary disease.

No one's mentioned the Liberian in Dallas.

That's because there are two threads on the same subject that should be merged.

On another site I go to it was mentioned that Ebola is not that bad and it's hard to catch. The woman also mentioned how Obama planned to infect Americans in order to get us all to support the countries with Ebola. I left her a message explaining the US with other countries had aid workers in those countries. She is arguing with FOX news information. I don't like FOX news.

That sounds like a very idiotic site.  Why do you go there?
Ebola is deadly.  How can that site say "it's not that bad".   :o
Yes - not so easy to catch but not that hard, either.

I just learned that dog was euthanized.  That makes me mad and sad.  Besides the possibility that this was not necessary, it seems like a wasted opportunity.  They could have quarantined the dog, to see if it really was infected.  Seems like the opportunity for research was lost.

Probably Michelle Bachmann - who is still under the impression that Ebola is an impoverished third-world country.

I thought it was Sarah Palin and claimed she could see Ebola from her house.
