Lipid Panel
« on: April 23, 2012, 06:15:31 pm »
I'm having a complete lipid panel tomorrow along with regular labs and was checking to see if there was an NPO ordered.  It doesn't appear on the physician's orders.

Due to cognitive issues this past couple of weeks, my brain isn't quite functioning correctly and I can't remember if this is a fasting test.  I've found different answers using "Google".

Plus, I appreciate the easy way with quick answers. ;D

Thanks!
Wolfie

Hey,...

Anytime I have a lipid panel done, I always have to fast, for a minimum of 8 hours prior to test. So, I think you will need to fast.

Thanks guys.  I was just confused because he reminded me that I didn't have to fast for my glycohemoglobin test and I'm having all my labs drawn at the same time.

I'm ok with the no food thing, but without morning coffe....pity the fools who try to be pleasant with me until I'm ready.

Well, you CAN have coffee.........  if you drink it black!  No cream (or milk or non-dairy substitute either) and no sugar (or any substitute).  Just black -- like us BUTCH men do!   ;D
