Your saliva has over a dozen elements and proteins which are very effective at preventing the transmission of viable HIV.

You've been coming here long enough to know by now that the only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse.

You need to apply the information which has been given to you in the past to your ongoing sexual life. We're not here to respond everytime you have some sexual experience. I'm going to warn you that you are on the verge of getting a Time Out. Use condoms for intercourse and get on with your life.

HIV transmission from precum
« Reply #51 on: October 15, 2013, 08:49:50 pm »
Hi

I have been on the forum before. However I got scared about a recent encounter and would like some feedback. I gave a blow job to someone who claimed he is safe. Initially he quickly came (not in my mouth). After washing I still gave a blow job to him but during the second time, my upper lip got cut (or got chafed) due to a gap in my teeth. There was no bleeding but there was sore. He did not come the second time but he must have had some precum. Also due to allergies and the meds I was on my mouth was pretty dry. I got scared about the chance of HIV from such an encounter. There was no saliva to inhibit any transmission and there was wound. No cum but exposure to precum. Thanks much in advance of your review and answer.

Hi Lost . You didn't have a risk . In order for there to be even a theoretical risk you would have to have had significant wounds or advanced periodontal disease while giving oral sex to a male with a high viral load .

There have only been a scant few cases of oral transmission of HIV and those cases most always have other risk factors involved .

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME for this incident , anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Hi Jeff, thank you. I realized that due to the gap in my teeth, the inner side of my lip gets chafed during oral sex. It happened twice before i realized it yesterday. I probably have to get my teeth aligned. I got worried because of the possible exposure and also because of my dry mouth. I will get tested after a month or so. Thank you.

Although you did not have a risk and do not need to test at this time for this incident I will give you the testing window period in case you ever have a risk in the future .

The average time to seroconversion is 22 days. Most who are infected will test positive by 6 weeks. For various reasons a small number will take longer and that is why we follow the CDC recommendation to test at 3 months for a conclusive negative result.

The testing window period is 6 weeks past any possible exposure and again at 3 months to confirm the results .

I urge you to read your entire thread again. Our answers from July were applicable then and are applicable now. Our science ensigns the same as does our assessment.
"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

Hi Again,
Assessing my risk. I met someone who claims he is hiv negative, but nevertheless I got worried. He humped me between my legs and ejaculated on my butt. He cleaned up with a towel but I felt some cum going between my butt cheeks. is there a way for the cum to get into the anus and cause HIV? I think I might have got some like that.

Thanks. Are there any cases like that. No anal or oral sex was involved.

Hi Lost , you have been told repeatedly what the risk factors are for HIV and warned about posting questions for no risk situations . You need to get some mental health counseling to deal with your obsession over HIV .

We can not hold your hand every time you have a sexual encounter so this ends here . If you came back and ask a no risk question again you will be given a time out .

If you need information about HIV transmission read this thread again . You are warned .
