Herbs, Herbs and more Herbs!
« on: January 18, 2009, 12:22:58 am »
I was wondering if anyone out there lives in Dallas that could recommend some one who is both affordable and knowledgeable to go to with questions about holistic medications?  I have started looking into a lot of them but would like to find someone who is trained in this area that can assist me with finding the right herbs and natural products for HIV and Diabetes Control.  My main concern is the interactions with the HIV Medications that I am on.  Any information would be appreciated!  Thanks and have a great weekend! :)http://

This is a long shot but if you don't find anything in Dallas, Bastyr here in Seattle is world renowned for herbal and alternative medicine.  I went there for awhile and so have a lot of my poz friends.  They also have a university teachcing acupuncture, chinese medicine, etc.  They might be able to give info via email or work with your ID.  Just a thought.

Just remember there is no proven control of HIV through holistic medications. You'll get plenty of anecdotal evidence and that's about it. Make sure you run any of the roots and berries you plan to try by your ID doc to make sure they pose no negative drug interactions to your current regime of HIV meds.

Quote you: "and knowledgeable to go to with questions about holistic medications?  I have started looking into a lot of them but would like to find someone who is trained in this area that can assist me with finding the right herbs and natural products for HIV and Diabetes Control."

There simply ARE NO herbs and natural products that control HIV...(dont know about diabetes).
My former life partner Paul...see the In Memoriam forum....believed that he could control HIV with herbs and natural products and he died as a result of having put off medical treatment too long.

Control HIV - no.  Improve an auto-immune system and overall health - yes.

Bastyr taught me about HIV nutrition (my ID never mentioned it and didn't know anything when I directly asked him) and they told me things about my meds that my ID should have.  They accept Ryan White funds and routinely work with AIDS patients.  The waiting room is like a poz social:)

I'll give them a call on Tuesday and see if they can recommend anyone in Dallas.
