Risk of Unprotected Oral Sex at Adult Theatre
« on: April 04, 2011, 11:13:04 pm »
Hello from New York,
Thank you for accepting me into your group and allowing me to post.

My risk:
Received unprotected oral sex from a women right after she performed on other men in an adult theatre.

My testing:
6.5 weeks: negative standard antibody test from lab.
7 months negative stat-pack finger prick test done at a social center by a volunteer.

My concerns:
Shortly after theatre experience I performed unprotected oral and had frottage with my wife.
She tested negative 7 weeks after with antibody test, but is suffering from night sweats, swollen glands in neck, and I have picked up a frequent sinus infection.

My fear is that I tested to soon at 6.5 weeks and received a false negative from the rapid test due to a faulty test, and that we are both infected.    Do you think I am thinking reasonably? Would you recommend further testing?

NY,

Getting a blowjob is absolutely NOT a risk for hiv infection. You have tested negative because you did not have a risk in the first place. Not one person has ever been infected through getting blown and you will not be the first.

Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect. It does not matter if she swallowed 100 hiv positive loads before she swallowed yours. Any hiv present would have been inactivated right away by her saliva.

And let me stop you right there before you start with the whatiffs about blood in the mouth. Unless you are in the habit of repeatedly punching a person in the mouth before they blow you, there could not possibly be enough blood to cause any concern.

You did not have a risk, end of story.

If you and your wife continue to feel unwell, see a doctor. Whatever is going on has NOTHING to do with hiv. You do not have hiv.

Thank you so much for your reply Ann

I believe that the oral i received was a much higher risk due to the possibly of residue from other men's semen that could have been in her mouth.

Are you aware of any reports of false negative on the rapid Clearview Stat-Pak test?

i know that the vast majority would test pos by 6 weeks and just about everybody by 7 months but I still have doubts on my testing.

Your beliefs are not facts. I already addressed this concern of yours...

The only false negative results I have heard of are those where the test was performed too early in the window period.

The window period is three months. You tested negative at seven months - which is no surprise as getting a blowjob is NOT a risk for hiv infection.

You got a NO RISK blowjob - it's time you got over it and got on with your life.

You do NOT have hiv.

Thank you Ann, you do great work here.

My anxiety of being infected continues and I think I would greatly benefit if I could have a couple more questions answered by this great forum.

1).  Are rapid stat- pak tests foolproof?
I am concernerd that my test was given improperly or could have been expired.  2) is it possible that if i was newly infected and had a high viral l could have infected my wife through performing oral sex on her and having g

Is it possible to have a high viral load from a new infection from my possible exposure and infect my wife by performing unprotected oral sex and frottage on her?

Testing is totally unnecessary and irrelevant for you. As Ann has told you repeatedly, getting a blowjob is not a risk for HIV transmission. There's never been a confirmed case of transmission to a guy in that manner. You're not going to make history by becoming the first.

What this really is about is straying husband guilt. You don't have to worry about passing a virus to your wife that you don't have. You did what you did, you got your cock sucked, it's done, it's history, so get over it and move on with your life.

If you continue to come back with more what ifs and worries about this non-risk incident, you are going to find yourself getting a Time Out from the site. Your problem isn't HIV. It's all about guilt. We can't help with you that one in this setting.

Thank you Andy,
My guilt and anxiety is fuled by very real symptoms that my wife is showing.  Night sweats, neck pain, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue...

In addition the woman was performing on other men before me.  Traditional BJs that are low risk do not involve other mens semen in the mouth.

NY,

As Ann and Andy have explained to you, you were not at risk from receiving a blowjob. It doesn't matter if there was semen in the woman's mouth from a previous sexual partner.

We cannot assist you with your anxiety and guilt. If you continue posting about this non-risk situation you will be given a time out.

Consider yourself warned for the last time.

I thank you all for your concise answers. The help you provide is invaluable to the worried soul.
There are just too many symptoms that we have that point to HIV as the cause....

No, it isn't the symptoms which are pointing to HIV. It's your fears and that is a quite different matter. Perhaps it's some kind of guilt or shame about the circumstances. But whatever it is about there is no basis in HIV science for you to be concerned.

To repeat, getting a blowjob including if the other person's mouth was full of sperm from previous guys would not be a risk for HIV transmission.

If you are having symptoms that are bothering you that is something to discuss with  your doctor. They have nothing to do with HIV.

I'm going to warn  you now that if you continue to return with more what ifs and worries about this non-risk incident, you will find yourself getting a Time Out from this site. HIV is not your problem. Period.
