Title: ASO Case Manager urgently Needed.
Post by: Bravo on October 27, 2013, 06:34:58 pm
ASO Case manager urgently Needed.
Please, I need help locating the nearest ASO office. I'm currently facing foreclosure and surely will be evicted. I need to apply for rental assistance or any financial help available to HIV folks. I'm desperate and scared because I'm going to be homeless with my kids.  I live in Anne Arundel County, Maryland 21113. Please help.

Hi Bravo, sorry to hear you're facing such hard times.

There may be other organisations in your area that might be able to offer help that would supplement (not replace) help from an ASO.

Go to poz.com's Healthcare Directory (http://directory.poz.com/). Ignore the "quick search" box at the very top - that's for finding places to test for hiv.

Scroll down a little further and put your zip code into the box provided.

You can choose your mile/radius range via the drop-down box right before the zip code box, but it's a bit limited in that it jumps from a ten mile radius to a fifty mile radius. I'm surprised a twenty or twenty-five mile radius choice isn't also included.

Skip the next two text boxes and look at the "Search by primary organization function" box.

If you hold down the "Ctrl" button on your keyboard you can choose more than one type of organisation to search for at a time.

I'd suggest you choose ASO, government-based, community-based, faith-based and "other" (don't know what "other" is, but it couldn't hurt to include it).

(Presumably any faith-based organisation that has themselves listed in this database has some sort of hiv/aids outreach and hopefully their services don't come with a judgemental attitude. If any of the faith-based - or community-based - services you contact from this list display judgemental or prejudiced attitudes, please let poz.com know so they can be looked into and possibly removed from the list.)

Some of these non-ASO services may be able help you with practical things like food, clothing and - if it comes to it - shelter. Even if you don't actually need this basic level of help right now, it would be a good idea to know what's on offer locally for future reference. Just in case.

I hope you and your children weather this storm and get back on your collective feet soon. Please keep us updated, because we'll be thinking of you and hoping you're ok.

Hugs,
Ann
