Relax, you have no chance of having contracted the HIV from the incident you describe in your post:  zero.  Move on with your life.

The HIV is fragile and does not survive outside the body and would never be in a viable condition to infect you the way you have described.

Please access this link and carefully read, learn, and understand how the HIV is trasmitted:

https://www.poz.com/basics/hiv-basics/hiv-transmission-risks

There is no need to test as a result of the incident you have described.

Stop it!

As Ptrk explained no risk as in zero.

HIV does not remain infectious once exposed outside the human body.

HIV is fragile unlike other viruses, once HIV finds itself exposed outside the confinds of the body, the receptors hiv uses to infect human cells with corrode, thus rendering it unable to infect.

Nobody has ever been infected the way you fear as HIV is not transmitted or viable this way.

Move on with your life, this fear is irrational as you have no factual reason for concern.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

It does not matter if I stabbed you with the with insulin pen myself, yes it would hurt and you would know about it, no it would not be a HIV risk.

The reason sharing IV drugs/syringes is a blood risk is as it's directly injecting a quantity of blood (backwash) into the blood stream this because you draw back when sharing drugs leading to a quantity of blood from the vein that has been short term stored in what is in essence a vacuum. A sharp object, needle, lancet, insulin needle or pin as examples on the other hand are nothing like an infection from a sharing IV drugs, there is no backwash stored in a vacuum and no more than a drop of blood that is exposed to the environment.

There has actually never been a recorded case of HIV transmission from a discarded needle or sharp object blood or otherwise. This is because HIV does not remain infectious once exposed to the environment, the outer receptors needed to infect human cells are corroded leaving it unable to infect.
