I think I have a date-like thing tonight. How novel.
« on: March 09, 2007, 09:19:17 pm »
So, this evening, I had a hankering to go out and buy a movie and a CD.

I had settled on The Wicker Man.  The original one... don't ever speak to me of that wretched remake that was shat out of Neil Labute's ass....  I love The Wicker Man.

Lo and behold... they had it at Plan 9 (Richmond's only decent record and movie store) for the first time since I've been going there, so I snatched it up along with a Bebel Gilberto CD.  Benj loves the bossa nova in addition to the British cult horror films.

On the way home, I called my new friend Dylan... we hung out last night with my friend Mike (the one who tried to kill himself) and immediately bonded over discussing Bergman films.  Very few people around here are into cinema the way we are, so it was wonderful to be able to talk of such things... needless to say,  we got along beautifully.

I was walking down the street, singing the song from the opening credits of The Wicker Man to myself, when I decided to call Dylan to see if maybe he'd like to watch it with me.  He got very, very excited and said that as soon as he was done with work, he'd come by with some PBR to watch it with me.

So, I think that's some sort of date-ish thing.  Weird.  In a good way.

Oh, and any fag who gets excited to watch The Wicker Man and brings PBR over without me having to ask is marriage material.

Oh yes.

I can tell I like him because I'm not suffused with lust for him.  I mean, he's hot... but not like, "Put out or get out" hot.  It's more like, "Bring your beer over and let's talk about the Nouvelle Vague and then we can make out on the couch and hold off on having sex for a of couple weeks" hot.

This makes sense to me, by the way.

2 weeks? Bugger that. Matty the Damned isn't damned for nothing. He drops trou and puts out whenever he can. But he also understands those who go for the romance thing.

Benj, You gave me the impression that you were quite romantic even when intoxicated.... ;D Hmm, thinks maybe we should get something started on here to see how long you can go without giving in to you horn doggish side.. Any takers? You can get in on this too... ;D

Ha ha ha ha!

As much as it would be to make out in the cathedral, I don't do that whole church thing.  I do that whole Yale thing.

Somebody get it.  Please.

But no, I had a very nice time.  We got slightly buzzed off of PBR (there is still a prodigious quantity in my fridge), watched "The Wicker Man," sang along during the last amazing scene (seriously, I've seen it about 50 times, and it still creeps me out), talked a bit more... then he had to leave, so there was a nice European peck on the cheek goodbye.  And we texted afterwards agreeing to try to do the same thing on Sunday.

But there's a certain cuteness to the way we're interacting that would probably make me vomit if I wasn't involved.

He's never seen Breathless.  I want him to see it.

"New York Herald Tribune!"

Poor kid hasn't seen anything with Jean Seberg... I need to rectify this.

Summer is a-comin’ in,
Loudly sing cuckoo;
Groweth seed and bloweth mead
And springeth wood anew
Sing cuckoo.
Ewe now bleateth after lamb,
Low’th after calf the cow.
Bullock starteth, buck now verteth,
Merry sing cuckoo,
Cuckoo, cuckoo,
Well now sing thou cuckoo,
Nor cease thou never nu.

I exercised restraint that would make my puritan ancestors proud.

Seriously...the whole time I was like. "I want to touch it.  I want to touch it.  I want to touch it."  And I wasn't drunk enough for the "oops, sorry I grabbed you there" bit.

He's coming over tonight for more movie watchings and beer drinkings so I think I'm doing something right.

That was the remake... which I haven't seen... and was unaware of its existence until now.  Hmm...

I'm talking about the original.  "A bout de souffle."  With Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg!  See that one!  It's a nummy treat!

It features X's cover of "Breathless" by Jerry Lee Lewis...one of my hands-down all-time favorite songs!

Well, I don't think he's all that into me.  Not in that way anyway.

Had a lovely time... we both played the bassoon in high school... had fun reminiscing about that.

I really like hanging out with him... but I think I have a new friend, and nothing more.  Which really is wonderful, in its own way... but I don't think it's going to go anywhere romantically.  Meh.

To make sure, I am now engaging in the YCCMATHONT plan.  The You Can Call My Ass To Hang Out Next Time plan.

I expect this to go nowhere... but it's always nice to make new friends.

God bless the child who's got his own, right?

Is he crazy? Did you show him the goods? How in God's name would he, or could he, pass on a classy little ex-bassoon playin', cat lovin, tape facin', beer drinkin' homo like you. It is his major loss. Show him what he is going to miss...go all homo-girl c-r-a-z-y on his ass. Doesn't that guy know you are easy?

As usual it takes a pervert from Memphis to show us the way. Benji-Boi it's time to drop trou and present peeny methinks.

Failing that the judicious combination of chloroform, a clean rag and a secure room present an effective option.

Exactly, you won't snare that dude acting all heterosexual. We all know that no homosexual relationship was ever founded on friendship. Now get out there and use those luscious lips of yours for something other that blowing a bassoon. Remember, there has never been a good gay relationship consummated without a fist fight.

Ha ha ha!

You guys are effin' hilarious!

I don't know... he's really cool, and we had a good time... but there's potentially one or many things at play here.

1) He was sober.
2) That whole HIV thing.
3) He's sick with something sniffly.
4) He's not that into me.
5) It wasn't the right time.

It's very odd.

He's easy, too... dammit!  We also had a lengthy discussion about the size of one of my exes' dick.  Because it was ginormous.  He asked me why I dated this kid for so long, and I said that in that particular case, the cock eclipsed the crazy extremely well.  He agreed saying that he'd had his own little taste... I'm not exactly dealing with a saint here.  Hmm.

I need to get him drunk.

Yes.

Booze would alleviate this situation.

Much faggier dear. Atta girl. Try wiping the succulent little man morsel out with absinthe. Tres Oscar, you know. ;)

Thank you, Matty!

I never say die.

And by "say die" I mean "think that sobriety is ever going to get me anywhere in this life."

I wish I had some absinthe... but I drank it.

Ask Buckyball about what happened that time I combined absinthe, a classy New York party thing, and an open flame.

Matty the Damned has a fair idea. He once observed the disaster that was a twink allowed to play with rakia (Croation moonshine), a cigarette lighter and a less than judiciously located bottle of amyl.

Firemen are really cute.

No fireman alas... but a bunch of bemused electroclash kids and a ruined haircut was the end result.

Plus a side trip to somewhere in Brooklyn which involved a slurry me babbling about pretty lights.

We learned never to let the guy who's been drinking 140 proof absinthe to decide what stop to get off at while on the subway.

A very applicable maxim.

None, they all screw in the toilet out the back.
