My Ipod is breaking and if anyone remembers, I just had this one replaced this past summer, cause the one before that broke (luckily it was still under warranty).  The warranty on this one ran out in September.  Now the hard drive keeps locking up and crashing.  And I have to keep reinstalling my music.  I am on my 4th Ipod in less than 4 years. 

Ipod is a shitty product.  I hate it.  Don't get hooked on it.

But because I can't play my itunes music on any other player, I have to keep buying Ipods.  So I'm off to the Apple store to look at the new Ipods (with video).  I'm sure they'll have a 12-18 month shelf life.   >:(

Yeah, I'm on my second one in less than a year.  When they work they do a great job; when they don't...well they're just crap!

mmmmhhh,

had mine for nearly 4 years and just changed the drive... still cheaper than buying a new one. I wonder if the first couple of series were sturdier than the more sophisticated ones that followed?

If you are giving it a rough time you may want a shuttle. It's solid state so no drive to break...

I needed a new MP3 player wanted something flash-based because I trail jog with it and fall, drop it, etc. I thought about the Ipod Nano but went with the SanDisk Sansa. It has 6 gigabytes and you can add memory if you need it. The battery lasts 20 hours and you can replace it if it wears out. It has a built-in FM tuner so I can watch TV at the gym. It also hold photos, videos and records voice but I don't use those features. It does not play the iTunes format but all my tunes are MP3 anyway. I buy from iTunes occasionally when I can't find a song somewhere else and convert it to MP3. I've had it several months, use it daily and I'm very pleased.

Good luck getting a hold of someone in Apple to fix it. They told me to take mine to the Apple store in Houston Galleria. There are always about 100 in line with broken shit.
They are marketing wizards. Dell did the same thing for years till consumer realized they were not the least expensive way to buy a computer and had the absolute worst service. For years the media and business media always referred to Dell as the least expensive way to buy a computer. I have purchase approximately 10 computers over the past 12 years, and Dell was always the most expensive computer.

I purchased the new ipod.  AND I LOVE IT.  LOVE IT. LOVE IT. LOVE IT.

I play my favorite tv shows on it, videos, games....can even play movies on it (though haven't purchased any). 

I also went ahead and bought the extended warranty.  Just in case.
