I'm glad that I will be doing my pre-Thanksgiving traveling tomorrow afternoon because Wednesday is now predicted to be a mess for the entire eastern seaboard.

I dont even have pain issues and this weather is hurting me. I feel for you Jeff.

I dont really mind the cold too too much, but the cold plus this constant drizzle really goes straight to my bones.

My Dr.Pepper porch thermometer says 38 here at 1pm. We aren't really expecting to get but 2 more degrees warmer all day. Im still in my pajamas. I need to get out to the store for some cat food but am dreading it, I have an old can of clams in the pantry I wonder if the cat would be ok with that.

Dr.Pepper porch thermometer :-X

And I never signed up for 8AM classes in college, much less any medical appointment. I won't do appointments until 1PM earliest.

I guess it takes someone to understand a classic 1930's-40's Christmas display. The pottery (including the ceramic elephant) is vintage as well as the cart. (a bar cart. liking it better now? lol.)

I am SO looking forward to seeing pics of your talent in decorating for the season. Thinking it might be a barbed wire wreath spiked with peppers. Can't wait to see! ;D

Although I love your other stuff, at least there are no elephants.

Well....I always thought you were the Martha Stewart of Connecticut, and then you roll this contraption out. I'm dissapointed. Did you jsut not finish the top shelf yet?

I suppose I could have put a nativity scene (yes, I have one) on top of the snowman scene but it just would have been too much. MS sucks. We Connecticut folks forced MS out of our state.  :)

Me too. Great design. Something that Wumperella can't grasp or has nightmares over.

Fiberfill in this case would be over the top. Love the concept.

Your wavy Fir trees bought back a joyous memory from my late teens, involving good friends an empty mansion, crisp winter weather and Lyseric Acid Diethylamide.
Happy nights.

Funny how simple things like a bottle-brush tree can evoke memories. I bent them on purpose to remind myself of the great and powerful wisdom and humor of Dr. Seuss.

I'll finish the cart if you finish your haircut. Deal? :)

Do you have the light fixture at the base that makes the tree change colors?

***

I'm thinking of doing something very nontraditional this year for a tree. Going into the woods and cutting down a scrubby deciduous tree with lateral branches. Wrapping them like a city tree in colored lights. It could be a total disaster but I'm going for it!

Wonder if it will sprout tips of green with water and warm temp. I doubt it but it would be an added bonus. :)

Are you making fun of my Dr. Pepper thermometer? You have to realize having a vintage soda pop thermometer on you front porch is a southern rite of passage, preferably DP or RC Cola, but other brands will suffice.

We are expecting about 3" of rain tonight and tomorrow. East of us have snow coming their way. Up to 18"!

We are currently under a tornado watch, until 10:00pm, the front passed thought here already, and more rain for the night:

This will be heading up the Eastern seaboard tonight, the low is passing over north Florida.

Otherwise, temp is currently 76 degrees, and muggy, with more rain,  and by Thanksgiving morning it will be in the 40's

POWER RESTORED TO BEATIFUL ARDSLEY PARK AT 530 PM

Winter hit the hostess city today and I was without power for 7 hours. Apparently a branch fell off an oak tree again. In Savannah it is illegal to cut down a live oak and I suppose it you trim one they throw you in the pokey. It is a chilly 68 here and my space heater went out. I was forced to dine on sandwiches and a Pepperidge Farm cake sans cafe.

Miami and LA are the only two U.S. locations reporting temperatures in the 70s right now...

Miami = 76 degrees at 5:50 p.m.

Don't fret....we will be waking up to a temperature of 54 tomorrow morning....

I'm breaking out the parka, gloves, and scarf.
