The Sweetest Weasel There Ever Was
« on: April 05, 2012, 09:09:17 am »
Today, April fifth, marks two years since we all lost a cherished friend and forum member - Lisa, formerly known as sweetieweasel.

I miss her so much - but thankfully, I can still shut my eyes and hear her infectious laughter ring out.

Gone, but never, ever forgotten.

Everyone - make sure you tell your loved ones how much they mean to you as often as you can. You just never know when they will no longer be there.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts

I miss her as well and, you are right, there is no putting off for another day.

I can't believe it's been two years.  And like you and Aztecan I still think of her often.

Lisa was such a gem of a person, and you're right Ann she did have an infectious laughter.  I adored her.

I was just thinking about Lisa the other day when someone mentioned Winston-Salem, NC.  I miss her great laugh and her fun, wonderful personality.  I am blessed to have met her in several cities including Nashville, Montreal and San Francisco, it was my pleasure indeed.  RIP Lisa you great lady.

Lisa was so selfless, and always giving to others.  I miss her.

I think of her often, with fondness and regret. Her life was so hard, and all she ever tried to do was make it better for other people.

I'm going to go kiss my ferrets.

I think of her often too.  One evening at AMG 07... We were going from Jeff's room to Lisa's and we happened upon a taped off hallway with a sign that read, "DO NOT WALK" Rules!  we crawled down that hallway in hysterics.

In my day to day activities, I take the Muni to the Powell Street station where the 07 hotel is and walk to Union Square.  Thoughts of Lisa and the Forums are always with me on Powell Street.   8)  Have the best day

She really was one of the kindest and most genuine people i've ever met.  I'll always remember the time I spent with her in SF.  RIP Lisa.

It's one of my greatest regrets that I never got to meet Lisa in person. We spent hours and hours talking on MSN and/or Yahoo and eventually Skype. We got each other through some tough times and celebrated together when things were going well. Her laughter could always lift me out of the lowest, bluest funk. Damn, I miss her!

And you're right, Jonathan. She had a tough life but she never let that get in the way of a good laugh and she was always ready to help anyone if she possibly could. She was simply a wonderful, caring, loving person regardless of what was going on in her personal life.

A lot of the things she had to deal with would make most people depressed and bitter, but not Lisa. I always think of her when I hear the Monty Python song Always Look On The Bright Side of Life. We used to sing that song to each other and piss ourselves laughing.

And by the way, has anyone heard from Jerry lately? I worry about that lad. He was the person who let us know about Lisa's passing (they were close friends) and he hasn't posted since July 2010. I hope he's ok.

I've said it before and I'll say it again whenever Lisa is mentioned:

I loved her from the moment I laid eyes on her, and I am so thankful that the last time I saw her (in Atlanta with Alan) was quality time.

There were kisses, hugs and laughs.

I am richer for knowing her, and she will be with me and a part of me for the remainder of my lifetime.

Wow, it's hard to believe it's been two years!  I was thinking of her very recently when I saw her name in my phone.  I left it there with her contact info; it didn't feel right to delete her.

Like Moffie, she will always be a staple in our AMG Memorial Service.  You all know my take on this....she and he are in a much better place!  We should be so lucky.

I'm not very good with words, but the thing I value most about this forum is its members and what they share of themselves. From the hilarious to the horrific, time and again I have found myself reading a post and resonating with what was said. There are people here whose wisdom, courage and humour have humbled me, enriched me, and on more than one occasion, enabled me to keep going. Some of those people have died; but  to those of us who did not have the privilege of knowing them, their posts remain as silent witnesses to the quality of their humanity, and to what we have lost through their passing.

One such was Lisa. I didn't know her, but having read her posts I have that sense you sometimes get when you are in the presence of someone who is simply, unaffectedly, good; and I find myself both humbled by it and the better for it. In September 2006 she wrote:

Quote
I live for-real every day of my life. I live my heart, and I speak my heart. I have many things I am abjectly grateful for. I  feel certain that many of the folks who share their experiences, do so in the spirit of having a safe place to vent. There are people from this very Forum, who have given of themselves to the edification of many others. I am ever more grateful to have met, and fallen in love with, the magnificent people here.

"I live my heart, and I speak my heart". And what a heart it must have been: I am grateful to this forum for the chance to have listened.
