New Carpeting

I got new carpeting and i like it a lot but the idiots used cheap padding underneath....u barely feel any cushion when you walk on it.

The carpet is tacked down...can they lift it up to put better padding underneath without damaging the carpet? Or am I screwed?  Im pissed!

  Since you just had it laid ( carpet that is), can you call them and voice your dissatisfaction?

Yes I did someone in customer service will call me tomorrow.  But my question is...can this be redone without damaging the carpet?  Im so upset and furious over this.

Hmmmm, I know nothing about laying carpet but if they were at fault, they should either do the job over at no cost to you or give you your money back. You can always take them to Judge Judy.....

It depends on how thick your new pad is and if they stretch it enough to hook tight on the tac boards. Since it's new they should be able to stretch it quite  a bit.

Ditto AC and Rapid.
I had the upstairs carpets in my condo pulled-up to nail down the floorboards better (they were squeaky), and the carpet was reinstalled and re-stretched without any problems.

But I also read somewhere that the padding must be compatible with the carpeting...so its possible that even though the carpet itself may be good quality, a thicker padding may actually not be good for this particular carpet....guess I have to call the experts.
