Update - Not looking good :(
« on: October 17, 2006, 10:39:14 pm »
Hi everyone, haven't been on in a short while, it's been a bit crazy.

Louie's not doing good at all.  He caught the flu or something 2 weeks ago and had his chemo treatment just the same.  His family has been coming over to see him and just wonder how in the world I'm able to handle what's going on.  None of them could believe how bad he is and how bad he looks.

Now it seems he's coming down with something else, can't keep anything down again, not even water.  He's on Zofran, Clonopin, Phenergan, Marinol and nothing is helping with the nausea.  Doc said that if he doesn't start getting a bit better in by tomorrow (Wednesday) he's going to have Home Health come in and administer a shot of some sort to hopefully help with the nausea.  I'm going to see if they still to TPN to feed him through his port.  At the beginning of the year he weighted 135#'s, now he's around 104#'s.  The nausea lately, especially today, has been so bad he's in a lot of pain, his throat, mouth and lips burn.

I try to ease his mind.  He's so worried about me, worried about me being alone and about me being able to survive on the roughly $1,000 I get between disability and working part time.  I keep telling him I'll be fine, heck his mother makes it on less than that.  Plus he reminds me I'll have his life insurance so he says that should help.  He's also worried because I still don't have my drivers license yet.  It was suspended for a DUI, last step is 12 week counceling that I'm required to go through.  The counselor said that the classes should also help me to deal with what's going on a bit easier.  Today was the 1'st class, only 11 more to go.  She told me she's going to talk to her supervisor to see if there is anyway to combine classes so I can get it done in a lot less time.  She's real nice and understanding.

He's reached a point where he's wanting to give up.  He tells me he's scared, he can't imagine not seeing me and holding me every day.  I told him not to worry about that he can look down on me from the spirit world and he can still touch me when he wants to.  I told him that I believe that he can come to me in my dreams and we can be together when I'm asleep.

It's getting rough, thank you everyone for being here to let me vent.

Love and Light,

Michael

Hi Michael,

I had horrible nausea this past year, and went though many of the same meds that Louie tried. None of them worked for me either. The doctor then tried Aloxi. It is an iv drug used mostly for chemo nausea. It worked really well.

Good thoughts and prayers going out to both of you.

TY everyone for all your thoughts and prayers.  It truly helped me through this ordeal.

Well they admitted Louie to the hospital yesterday (Wednesday) and got him started on I.V. to get fluids in him.  Today they did an upper G.I. to see what's going on with his stomach.

He has thrush down his asophagus (sp) and a few sore spots on his stomach, doc said probably due to the nausea and vomitting.  So he's on a limited liquid diet for a few days, mostly water, drinking it with small sips.  They were doing 80cc's of water since last night for the I.V. liquids, now they have upped it to 200cc's for the drip flow.  He was badly dehydrated and it was starting to affect his kidneys a bit.  They are going to do diflucan through the I.V. for 1 day and then try him on the liquid form orally to get rid of the thrush.

If all goes well doc is hoping that in a few days he can start semi-solid foods for a few days and then what ever he wants to have.  He'll probably be on diflucan permanently to prevent this from happening again since he's had a history of oral thrush quite regularly.

There's planning on doing a barium X-Ray tomorrow (friday) to make sure there's nothing in his lower abdomen area and to see how his kidney's and such are looking.  Doc and the gastro doctor said that the thrush, because it was so bad would cause terrible vomitting and nausea.  Even just getting fluids through the I.V. and nothing orally he hasn't been quite as sick.  But his lips and mouth are sore from the vomitting, doc and the nurse said it was bile from his stomach so that's why he's sore.

He's also being given demoral and phenergan because all his joints are hurting so bad and he was in agony when he vomitted.  Now he's sleepy, which is a blessing, gives he and his mom some rest.  Though we still have long days.

I worked from 9-12 noon today and then off to the hospital until 10pm, took care of the dog and had to write to give everyone the good news!!

All of you are truly a blessing!!!  TY TY TY TY TY TY TY TY

May which ever god you believe in bless you and your family and watch over you.  I'll keep everyone updated.

Love and Light,
Rev. Michael
