Anyone else had hand tremors?
« on: November 25, 2010, 07:35:10 am »
I have been getting the shakes in my hands - esp. at night and it is freaking me out big time.

I have been pos for 4 years and started meds 5 months ago - currently on Isentress/Truvada (changed from Atripla around 3 weeks ago). Last CD4 count was 330, VL around 20,000.

It would reassure me to hear that it is a temporary side effect from the meds that will pass - of course I am going to see the doc but can't get in til next week.

Help!
 :(

lmdo- I have been taking I&T since March and have not experienced any tremors.  I cannot find this is listed anywhere as a side effect but I guess anything is possible. I did have a twitching finger but it was from an injury and went away on its own.

Thanks guys - it is every night-time and I don't have diabetes / blood sugar problems. I hope it is nothing serious.
Will wait and see what the doc says.
Very frightening, I'm in my mid 30's.

Hey Imbo,

Are you taking any other meds?

Imdo-

I'm not on any poz related meds right now, but I do take a variety of others. Anyway, the reason I'm responding is because I've had hand tremors for YEARS! And none of the medications I'm on have hand tremors listed as a side effect. But I've talked to the doctors, and they usually just say its probably from the meds. So, I'd just check with the doc to be sure, but its probably just an uncommon med reaction. Most likely nothing to be too worried about. Annoying yes, scary maybe, dangerous probably not. Good luck bud!

about 2 years ago I used to get very slight hand tremors. Only mild and you could only really notice it if I held my hand still and then you could see a slight tremor. I would have been positive at that time although undiagnosed and not on treatment. It went away after a while and I haven't had it since.

Thanks everyone,

Tempe - I am also on Fluconazole for oral thrush, don't think it could be that...

Odyssey - thanks, it is scary because I have a friend with MS, and you do start to think too much sometimes...
I know it could be HIV in the brain too.. hopefully not, just an annoying side effect which disappears very very quickly... fingers crossed
