finger corn/callus and HIV risks
« on: July 05, 2011, 12:24:25 pm »
Hi everyone, I am worried a lot of HIV...I am a health care worker.I have cut my nail last Saturday and it created wound at the cuticle of my left thumb,a laceration wound, still bleed if i press it very hard until now.Yesterday I injected the patient and she bled a lot,I used my right thumb that I have wound to suppress the bleeding point. But I did wear gloves.I remembered seeing her blood stained on my glove at right thumb.I don't think I will contact HIV this way because i wore gloves. But I have read that the particle of virus could penetrate the invisible pores of latex gloves. Is that true? If it is true ,will it penetrate my cut since i did not cover it with the bandage, just only wear gloves ?I am afraid so much.I am not sure about the quality of the gloves i am wearing.Do I need to get PEP for this exposure? Do i need to get test? Thank you

No it isn't true nor did you have an exposure.

thank you for your answer. Anyway,if my laceration contact with her blood, will i be at risk? My laceration still bleed if i press it and I pressed my right thumb over her wound.I di not checked whether my gloves have pore. But after I removed the gloves I saw no blood on my wound, just only the occlusion of glove powder.

One question, you call yourself a healthcare worker?

Worried,

It sounds like you need some hiv awareness training from your place of employment. If you have concerns like this while preforming your duties, you should be talking with your line-manager or supervisor. Your place of employment should have protocols in place for incidents of needle-stick injury, which is the only real danger in a health care setting where hiv is concerned.

You absolutely do NOT need PEP over this NO RISK incident.

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies. Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect.

The idea that there are microscopic holes that hiv can pass through in latex condoms or gloves is an urban myth. It's not going to happen. I'm quite sure the health care center where you work is using gloves that are adequate.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST OVER THIS BLOOD-ON-GLOVE INCIDENT, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Hello, everyone.Sorry for my English.Last night i masturbated a guy by my right hand.He ejaculated on my right hand and also I have a small lesion on my right index as well.I don't know whether it's a corn/callus or wart.I am sure that his cum touched my right index.I cleaned my right hand 1 minute later with soap.Am I at risk for this situation? Will you considered my finger callus/corn or wart as non-intact skin? Do I need to get test? Thank you very much

Worried,

I've merged your new thread into your original thread - where you should post all your additional thoughts or questions. It helps us to help you when you keep everything in one thread. It doesn't matter how long it has been since you last posted in your thread or if the subject matter is different.

If you need help finding your thread when you come here, click on the "Show own posts" link under your name in the left-hand column of any forum page.

Please also read through the Welcome Thread so you can familiarize yourself with our Forum Posting Guidelines. Thank you for your cooperation.

You are absolutely NOT at risk through getting cum on your hand, regardless of cuts, scrapes, warts or callouses. Hiv is NOT transmitted through the skin, as you have been previously told.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!!!

possibly bloody nipple
« Reply #8 on: September 01, 2011, 01:35:20 am »
Hi everyone, sorry for my English.Last night I sucked a guy's nipple for 5 minutes.Later i noticed that he got an old acnea lump on that nipple, too(his acnea is just only a tiny lump with no pus but with pinky surface).I had no mouth ulcer nor bleeding gum.I tried to squeeze his acnea lump but no secretion nor blood oozing. But he still feel pain of that acnea
1.I knew that it would be no risk if there was no bleeding from his old acnea. But If i sucked that acnea,is there any possibilities of blood coming out from sucking pressure?
2.If there was blood coming out from that old acnea and came contact with my mouth,COuld you estimate the risk for getting HIV?
3.In your experience, were there any cases who got HIV by sucking bloody nipple?
4.If there was blood in my mouth from his acnea(i think it's just a tiny amount of blood ),Could the saliva enzyme deactivate HIV?
Do you think I need to get test? I thought that the risk is low or non-existent,am I right?
Thank you very much

Again, no risk. Take the time to read the lessons on transmission.

Once again, no risk.

The only CONFIRMED risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. That's it. Use condoms for those activities everytime and you will be well protected. It really is just that simple.

Thank you very much.Anyway, would you change your opinion if his acnea broke with blood then came contact to my mouth? I have read a thread that people with blood to mucous membrane would be put through PEP treatment..

Hi,guys..Last 3 night I encountered a male sex worker. We did not have sex nor oral sex. But mutual masturbation..He kept masturbating himself and after that he gave me a massage at my buttock and anal area..After that I went back home and went shower.I felt irritating at my anal opening, like there was a fissure or a cut from his finger nail.I forgot to notice about bleeding
Is that possible that he cut my anal opening with his finger nail with precum? Because he used that hand for masturbating himself..And If his precum at fingernail came contact with my fresh new cut, that means i am at risk?
Thank you for the answer

You are worrying needlessly. Unprotected anal intercourse is a risk but that is very different from what you have described, which is not a risk. You are worrying needlessly. THere is no need for testing.
