I'm sitting here with my first glass of 140 proof absinthe from Spain reading the forums.

I think I might be the coolest person ev-ar... I feel so terribly post-decadent pre-drunk 19th century.

Absinthe tastes like licorice and makes vodka seem like bottled water.

Goodbye cruel world. I'll see on on the other side. In eight hours. When I wake up and want to kill everyone.

Before anyone gets their pantaloons in a wad over me drinking... I think it only fair to point out that I hardly drink anymore at all (I have had to get by in the interim on something people refer to as "personality.")... and I think I can chill with the green fairy for a bit.

Seriously... this stuff rules. Tastes vile... but is amazing.

I'm currently listening to "Come and Play in the Milky Night" by Stereolab, and soon my best friend Jennie will be here, and we're going to a disco night.

This might be the best Tueday night in the history of everything ever.

It's not illegal to look peruse the selections of absinthe in Europe. You just have to be over the legal drinking age in the US. And plus, absinthe isn't classified as a drug. It's weird.

Nor is it illegal for me to tell you that they're brilliant when it comes to shipping to North America.

It does.

140 proof and it contains herbs that are known to be mildly hallucinogenic.

It's very distinctive. Plus so terribly late 1800s. Arthur Rimbaud and Oscar Wilde chugged it like mad.

I actually likey the taste of absinthe - on occasion I'm a pernod or sambuca sipper - that's probably why.

On my last night in Atlanta, me and JK had a spooky theme night based around the movie Jack the Ripper. The attached photo is basically a goldfish bowl full of absinthe and ginger ale on dry ice. Twas a fun night!

For those who simply dig licorice taste and want it in a form more easily acquired at most liquor stores, you can try either Ricard or Marie Brizzard anisette. It's quite tasty. Sometimes taken with some water mixed in. Yum. I tend to prefer Ricard on ice. Admittedly it doesn't have the romantic artist's death at an early age aura of absinthe, but then not everyone is a Modigliani.

Remembering the anisette that was prepared for me in South America....it was a mixture of Anisette and water I think.....looked cloudy.... like milky....refreshing.

Oh God.

I want to die.

My everything hurts.

But last night rocked so hard. So very hard indeed.

And Doxie... I have the day off today... that's why I did what (and who) I did last night.

I'm gonna drink Vitamin Water, watch the Craft, and possibly rip out my own eyeballs.

The pain... the sheer, gut-wrenching pain.

P.S. I have noticed that working out 4-5 times a week and having put on almost 10 lbs. of muscle has increased my metabolism (and my general health) to the point where hangovers aren't nearly so bad as they were three months ago. That said, this is a bad one, and I want to die.

Because that`s the way to drink a real absinthe.............
And if it is really real WTF did you find it ?
Because a real one , has much more than a touch of some hallucinogenic herbs in it..................and it is forbidden in most countries.
Other delightfull things that I`ve tasted include a :
1.Marijuana smoked through a drilled watermelon
2.A shisha appe-has*** mix
I did that only a few times in a appropriate company and a whole impression was great

Simple : byu a tasty watermelon , drill a hole through it with a driller, put a joint on the one side (be cautious not to wet it ) , your mouth on the other and enjoy..............
And after that you can eat your watermellon...........it would be more tasty

I must admit drinking abstinthe any time with the spoon and sugar, is one of my dreams. I should get on with it and do it. I love Sambuca and some coffee beans, I paint, I write, I dress funny, all of it fits. I should get on with it. OHHHHHHHH to have someone to drink it with.
