my size changed!
« on: June 27, 2016, 10:18:00 am »
This is very embarrassing. I've been on Triumeq for a few weeks now and have noticed that my penis size has decreased quite a bit when not erect. Has this ever happened to anyone else recently diagnosed with HIV or starting HIV meds? I wonder if it has to do with a testosterone imbalance?

Well hello.  Never heard of this one.  Maybe its a psychological thing?  Why not ask your doctor.

@Mecch - I was beginning to think it was a psychological thing too, but wanted to see if anyone else had experienced anything like that. It's so weird. I was never the biggest guy in the room but now its quite small when flacid and I hope it doesn't stay like this forever on treatment. I'm meeting with my doctor in two weeks, it's embarrassing, but I'll ask him.

Yes just ask.  Who knows maybe its some circulation thing. Anyway in my almost 10 years and many thousands of visits here on this forum I never heard anyone mention that.

Eventually when people get used to being HIV+ they get to a new "normal" and the mind doesn't play tricks anymore.

Also remember - being HIV+ - no question is too silly to ask a doctor.  Especially good practice for us because otherwise we could worry about things uselessly.

Do you get on well with the doc?

@Mecch - It seemed really weird to me too because I'd never heard of this issue. I get along great with my doctor.. I just never had ANY medical issues previously so when it comes to talking to ANYONE about medical issues especially involving dick size or anal health I can become a little uncomfortable. I'm also dealing with a massive re-occurrence of condyloma acuminatum (they flared up with the HIV infection and I had to see a specialist for surgery, which is how I came to find out I was HIV positive) and any time the doctor needs to see my bottom I get extremely embarrassed. I'm sure as I continue with my treatment I'll become much less shy about pointing out issues or questions of a sexual / private matter but for now I'm still getting used to it.

OK. Well good luck on the warts.

There was an mini epidemic of them when I was in college and I got mine lasered off.  Hmmm ouch.

I hope when your immunity is rebuilt, they won't come back.

Seriously who cares how big a penis is when it's flacid?

@Harleymc - You are right... I just didn't know what could have been causing the issue. testosterone imbalance or circulation issues. I don't really care what size my dick is as long as it works ;) It is shocking though to look down in the mirror one morning and notice your junk is significantly smaller than what you are used to.

harleymc - Count me among the people who wouldn't appreciate a suddenly smaller looking dick.  Call me superficial.   I mean I would try to figure out WTF - in my mind? or really, it's smaller?

Penis size is genetically determined, so it is really unlikely for a drug to change its size... Circulating testosterone doesn't affect penis size too: steroids users would be oversized, and they're not...my personal experience  8)
If I were you, I would re-consider my "penis assessment abilities"...you will find your answer into your mind, rather than into your underwear  :P

By the way...if your willy's size gets back, just hit me up   ;D

For what it's worth the size of my penis when flaccid changes a bit, usually depending on how hydrated I am, and whether I've been sitting for long periods of time or not.  The size can be pretty dramatic in difference, but has nothing to do with HIV or meds, at least in my case.
Diagnosed April 2015
First labs and specialist visit April 2015
Initial appt and labs: CD4 560 and VL 18,000
Started Triumeq June 2015
VL UD after 30 days on Triumeq, CD4 slowly rising.
