I'm having surgery on the 18th this month (a Friday) to get my thyroid gland removed.
My boyfriend is already frantically planning to move everything he has planned for that day and a few days after it so he can stay with me while I'm in the hospital, but I'm nervous that he won't be allowed to.
Will he? If he's technically not allowed is there any way I can convince whoever is there to let him stay? If he isn't allowed I'm afraid he will injure people until they say yes. :D

Tell them he's your brother.

Tell them he's your brother.

Somehow it'd be satisfying for a nurse or someone to walk in during a quick kiss or cuddle or something.

Tell her......"We're close"

Hi Mouse
I don't see any problems with your BF being there...and if there is then I suggest you do what Tigger said...throw a wobbly and make it a big one..scream, stamp your feet , whatever it takes... :D ;)
Good luck with the surgery.
Love and hugs

Of course he won't be in the OR, but if he shows up with you they'll let him stay with you the whole rest of the time. They want someone there, because once they've checked that you're resting quietly, they can peek in every couple of hours instead of every 30 min., because they know that if not you then your BF will call in case of an emergency. If he's 18, cool, if not, one of your folks can verbally authorize it.
The only time I have been asked to leave was when my mom had surgery four years ago. She was in a shared room, with a very sick female roommate, and in such situations, visitors are not allowed to stay if they are not the same gender as the patient. I put on my best "only son" and "gay" petition, and the nurse said, " I understand, girlfriend, but those are the rules. We'll see you in the morning!" :o
You'll do fine with your surgery!

In France you cannot attend a hospital room if you're under 15. I don't know about the US, but I would guess that Basquo is right, and if he's over 18 or get a parental authorization that should be fine.

When my partner got sick and was hospitalized, we signed a health proxy during admissions. Because of that, I was able to stay with him all the time and had access to all his medical records, charts, and doctors.

Good luck on your surgery~~~~and get well soon (i wonder why they have a lots of rules not to allow your boyfriend to stay with you when you need support!!!)

He's 17 and both my parents are cool with him staying with me.

Hey Jaser,
As long as both parents are OK with it, I don't see the hospital folk getting ruffled.
I hope your surgery is a complete success. I'll be sending healing energy your way.
HUGS,
Mark
