I recently had protected sex with a girl of unknown HIV history. I used a condom (polyurethane) and lubricant. However, I had a small (dime sized) chafed area at the base of my penis (so i could see it when i looked down), right at the area where the pubic hair ends and the penis begins. This chafing was due to me masturbating while wearing a ring, and the ring caused the chafing. This chafing occured about 5 hours before intercourse. The condom did not cover this area, and I believe some vaginal fluids and maybe some blood (she was on her period) may have contacted it. DOes this pose a significant risk for HIV transmission? Thank you

and another question if i fingering with my minimal abrasion wound(new) of my base of nail (can see it redness like mucosa) it can increase risk?

You didn't have a risk because condoms have been proven to prevent hiv infection.

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus. It needs to bump into and latch onto a very few, very specific types of cells in order to infect. Your chaffed skin would not contain these types of cells.

These cells are found in the lining of your urethra (as well as inside the vagina or rectum). As the head of your penis was covered by a condom, hiv could not have come into contact with these cells.

The same thing goes for fingering. It is also not a risk, no matter if you have cuts, scrapes or hangnails etc. The correct type of cells are not present.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex with a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through all three condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

Although you do NOT need to test over these specific incidents, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results. Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

last today i had sex with prostitute and i oral her about 5-10 min ,and she had many of juice in my mouth
after that i see my mouth have apthous ulcer in near the lip, and i msure her secretion contact my ulcer
im very paranoid and can t eat , please estimate my risk with cunnilingus with ulcer and should i get test in 3 month , thank you very much

No Arnyu, you don't need to test.

Cunnilingus is not a risk for HIV transmission even if you have an ulcer in your mouth.

Arnyu,

No one has ever gotten HIV from performing cunnilingus. As you say, it's the fluid around the cervix that you have to worry about.

You do not have HIV.

Honestly, nobody has time to provide that to you and it would be unfair to ask the people that devote their spare time to this forum to help people to provide it to you - regardless of how scared you were about this incident. Rapid has done a good job in giving you advice, however if you refuse to accept his advice then I suggest you take the issue with your own doctor who are paid to look after you.

I suggest you stop demanding "proof" from the experts here and do as R suggests and go and talk to your doctor, he may have the documentation you are looking for.

Since the beginning of the AIDS epidemic the possibility of contracting HIV through exposure to vaginal secretions has been regarded as a fact, but no proof of it has ever been presented, in fact, a new study came up with a rather surprising conclusion that vaginal fluids, (excluding the presence of menstrual blood), present minimal quantity of virus and, like tears, are not capable of transmitting HIV infection. No data has ever been reported to support one theory or another.

If you keep coming back with the same demands then you will be give a time out...please consider this a warning.

Listen, I don't know why the websites in Thailand tell you these things. All I can tell you is that they're wrong.

You don't have HIV. You don't need to test.

Research has shown that an enzyme in saliva inhibits HIV...meaning your mouth and throat are well protected against HIV..no need to test and you do not have HIV...end of story, we can't help you any more than we already have.

One more post and you are on a time out.

You had protected intercourse. Bearing in mind everything you described I will tell you that you are worrying needlessly. You were not at risk for transmission during intercourse nor in relation to any of the other details you've thrown into the worry mix.

There's no need for testing. I will just remind you that anyone who's sexually active ought to have a full STD panel done regularly. That means at least once a year. There are other STDs out there which are much easier to catch than HIV.

Because infected fluid has to get into the blood stream.

Unprotected vaginal/anal sex=high risk
Fluid on pubic hairs=NO risk
Fluid on the outside of your penis=NO risk.
Fluid on tissue=NO risk.
