P.S. I Love You
« on: November 27, 2010, 04:19:49 pm »
I saw this movie a while ago when it came out, but forgot how great it is! It was at the local Target for $3 so I bought it.

Who else has seen it and liked it? Any recommendations on similar movies?

Not exactly the same concept, but The Time Traveler's Wife was pretty awesome. It was def different than I expected it to be. It deals with a love that is semi-constant transcending both life and death. Very good if you are like me and prefer to torture yourself with these types of sappy movies!!!

Thanks, Numbers! Just added to the queue on Netflix where they also recommended another all time favorite: The Notebook  ;)

You know I think I was the only person that didn't like The Notebook. I'm usually all for a tear jerker, but for some reason that movie didn't get to me... and I love both Ryan and Rachel so that makes it even more baffling. Maybe I watched it at the wrong time or in the wrong environment.

The Notebook is one of the most unworthy, mock-able movies ever made in the history of cinema.  PS. I Love You is exceptionally mediocre, Gerard naked being it's one redeeming factor.

I've seen none of the movies mentioned in this thread, but I'm an avid reader and I was absolutely blubbering at the end of The Time Traveller's Wife. Whenever a lady asks me for a book recommendation, that's the one. Come to think of it, whenever someone I want to torture asks for a book recommendation, that's the one.

The Notebook sucked; but The Time Traveler's Wife was a decent movie and an incredible book!

My partner will tear up reading a book or watching a coffee commercial.....
I guess that I am not wired that way.
Our iPad came with 650 books loaded in it, I will check to see if either of those books are in there.
We have five hours of flying time coming up when we go home.
Life can be much better with a good book.

My library goes from A Time To Kill to Timeline..... No Time Travelers Wife.
Looks like my airport book will be Wicked. Humor over torment.

You should have gone to the theatre for this.  From the sobs alone you would have thought it was a holocaust movie.

Oh man... I'm always embarrassed to see sappy movies in the theatre. Speaking of Holocaust movies... did you see "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas"? This was a fantastic movie... and yes I cried like a baby.

I actually just watched The Bucket List for the first time today - I have had many opportunities to see it before this, but was never interested.  But, just came back from visiting the parents for Thanksgiving and my dad isn't doing too well - so, I watched it - was a little more emotional during it then usual (well, actually, I'm always emotional at movies like this) ---- I guess I should just trot on over to mamby pamby land I'm such a big jack wagon!

Sorry to hear your father isn't doing well, Phil  :-[

One of my favorite parts of The Bucket List are the three rules for getting older:

1. Never walk past a bathroom
2. Never waste an erection
3. Never trust a f*rt

Well if Wicked is bad, I have about 643 other books left to read.
I had thought I would support a fellow church member and read Naked.
Even though the author is gay, I didn't care for his book.
Steven Hawkings is probably straight, but I didn't care for his book either....
It may be back to Steven King.

Just watched P.S. for the first time (got it at Target for $3, too lol)... pretty good but fairly predictable.

'Somewhere in Time' is still my all-time favorite... perfect blend of romance and sci-fi  ;D
