If you are both negative then you cannot contract hiv.  A lot of people, however, are positive now because they thought their partner was negative.  You should use protection.

Hello 8484life, it is Eldon, First, welcome to the forums. Secondly, you should always use protection because you never know what might happen. If the both of you ar neg then do your best to stay togehter as a team and don't let any outsiders influence your relationship.

I wonder what happens if two positive people have sex...  does the HIV cancel itself out....  OMG I think I may be negative.

84,

I've merged the two threads you started into one and moved it over to the Am I Infected forum where it belongs. You should not be posting in Living.

I want you to read through the Welcome Thread and after you've digested the posting guidelines, click on the links so you can learn a little more about hiv.

Hiv does not spontaneously appear from anal sex. Hiv is not a punishment sent down from on high to hurt people who engage in anal intercourse.

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL STIs together. To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with a sexually transmitted infection.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

HIV is certainly character-building. It's made me see all of the shallow things we cling to, like ego and vanity. Of course, I'd rather have a few more T-cells and a little less character. Randy Shilts
