Just got off the phone with Phil. His father was moved to Hospice this morning after a stay in the hospital. He is expected to pass shortly.
In talking to Phil last week I gathered his father was pretty sick, but I don't believe the family thought it was this bad. As you can imagine Phil is having a rough go of it.
...Sending you my thoughts and Prayers Phil.

I've spoken to Phil a few times being on the grants committee and he is a very nice fellow. I wish only the best for his dad who has had some health issues over the years. And I hope Phil will take care of his own health while caring for his father.

Thanks everyone - my dad's service is being held on Saturday - made the funeral arrangements today - many family members will be here tomorrow - very very tired (physically, mentally, socially, etc)
Getting ready to work on writing my little "talk" for dad's service. His last words before becoming non responsive on Sunday were for me to write to him - this I shall do - and do regularly. My heart is hurting very badly right now and my eyes hurt from crying.
I am also beginning to get sick - some type of bug I think I may have picked up in the hospital.
Thanks again for your thoughts and concern.

Cry, and cry some more. I have a very strong feeling you will say the most right things for your Dad. Sometmes there are not words suffiicient to say and people should just say "my thoughts are with you" sincerely! Be good to yourself!

So sorry to hear your father passed.

My thoughts are with you Phil in this time of grief for you, your dad was blessed as well to have had a fine son like you these many years. In time you will cherish all the great memories you had together. Keep yourself well friend, especially that little bug you have now.

Thank you all for the sincerity of your words and your support. This has been and continues to be a very tough time for me. When I went up to Ocala to see my dad last Friday it was supposed to be a three day trip to see how he was doing in the hospital. I did not know that I would see a man that was 118 pounds (down from 155 six months ago). I did not know that I would see a man who had brain damage and was quickly losing his abilities. I definitely did not expect to be putting my dad in hospice on Tuesday, having him pass away on Wednesday at 6:33 pm; making funeral arrangement on Thursday and having the funeral service with military honors on Saturday.
My heart is completely broken. My best friend is no longer with me. I used to call my dad 4 or more times a day to just talk. I am very very sad, but also know that he is at peace.
Thank you all again.

Just received a phone call from my mother - my favorite aunt (Aggie) passed away about an hour ago - she had been in the ICU since last Monday and was moved to hospice care yesterday morning. With my dad passing on March 16th and now my aunt on March 27th, it has and continues to be a rough month. I am taking comfort in knowing that neither of them are suffering any more. :'(

Very sorry to hear this Phil. Please accept my most sincere condolences.

Condolences Phil, hang in there for your mom.

Dear Phil, my deepest condolences on your loss. At times like these, I find my words failing me and instead I offer the writings of Angelo Patri, he writes:
“In one sense there is no death. The life of a soul on earth lasts beyond their departure. You will always feel that life touching yours, that voice speaking to you, that spirit looking out of other eyes, talking to you in the familiar things they touched, worked with, loved as familiar friends. They live on in your life and in the lives of all others who knew them.”
