Hernia Operation
« on: December 29, 2011, 05:23:26 pm »
Kurt had his hernia operation today.  The doc only did one side, since, he said,  it was only the right side that needed it.  (kurt had had some pain on the left side.)
So he's home, he's asleep and I am exhausted.  We were up at 5 am,  at the hosp at 6:30 and he was admitted at 7am.  By 9 he was on his way to the OR and I made a bee line to the cafeteria where I had breakfast for $3.50  ...cant beat that.
Two fresh eggs, two slices of toast and two slices of bacon with a big cup of coffee.
Then I went to the family waiting room and waited for my name to be called when Kurt was moved to recovery. He did real well.  He had to pee before leaving so I plied him with Ginger ale, water and cranberry cocktail juice.  It worked.  He peed, got dressed and we came home.  Stopped off to get his prescription for percoset filled etc....and now he is asleep.

Here's wishing Kurt a speedy recovery !!  I had my inguinal hernia surgery, around 2001 ( can't think for sure off hand)  They used about 7 or 8 staples in it.  Mine was on the left side, and the mesh was not used in my case. I'm glad I had the pain killers around, because I needed them for about 36 hours after. The balls kind of swelled a little.  :o    Never had any more issues with it again.

I took off from work about 7-10 days and went back to light duty, for another 5 weeks or so.

Take care/ good luck----Ray

Thanks.
Well, its been almost a week and he is up and around.  But he cant LIFT anything over 5 pounds. No driving, folding laundry is hard, bending over is painful.  etc etc.
Luckily I am retired and can take care of him.
