« on: October 08, 2008, 07:37:36 pm »
today i found out that after a year of rising from 107 to about 340, my cd4 has dropped like a stone to 214, even though my viral load is not a cause for concenern. obvioulsy i have to wait until the next result to start worrying but obviously this kind of drop is alarming. so. does this kind of thing happen often?

Extrude,

I am sure you will hear many replies  to your post however I was a little surprised yesterday at my quarterly Doc visit to see my CD4 count drop and my VL drop.  My Doctor was happy with the results and told me not to worry.  He said the continued lower VL way outweighed the change in CD4.  I say just keep an eye on it and a positive attitude.  Your going to be fine.

Hey thanks to everyone posting about vaccinations and tests.  It reminded me to get my Flu shot yesterday and heck I had them throw in a TB test just for fun.

I feel like my Grandmothers tomato pin cushion.

Extrude,

If your VL is under control, I wouldn't sweat this test result. More likely than not it is an aberration. CD4 counts can vary by 50+ depending on a number of factors, including the time of day (always try to have your labs done at approximately the same time) and the lab conducting the test....

Best....

just thought that i'd give an update on the situation

got a phonecall from the hospital today. the cd4 is still falling and they want me to come in and have more tests. it seems like i might have some other infection which is causing the drop. as far as i know the vl is still not a cause for concern.

I have been told that this kind of fluctuation can occur, even if you have 2 draws in the same day and the same lab.  Since the hospital calls, I would go.   ;D  Have the best day

panic over. seems that i was just having a blip. the viral load stayed undetectable and the cd4 is rising quite quickly again, up by about 30 in 2 weeks.
