A couple years ago I remember reading a news release from the clinic I go to saying they were now using a fourth generation test that can detect HIV 20 days earlier than current antibody tests.  link here:

https://www.virginiamason.org/body.cfm?id=158&action=detail&ref=3676

Today I read that the same test has now been approved for use by outreach and provides immediate results.

This seems like huge news.  This would have helped my situation a lot.  I got tested during the "window" and had a false negative.  I foolishly thinking I had lucked out put it out of my mind and didnt test again for awhile.  I was positive.  I kind of wish this test was available when I tested.

I know many have issues with the home tests, but I hope this makes it to home testing.

I wonder if the fact that this is a blood test and not a oral swab would prevent it from home usage.

The whole "window" period from the antibody tests are a major disadvantage to HIV testing.  This helps a lot it that area.
