New labs.....
« on: March 28, 2012, 05:24:27 pm »
Well got latest lab results today and was happy and disappointed all in one.

When I was diagnosed my VL was 1.2 million and after 4.5 months on Atripla I am now Undectable!  I was very happy to hear that.

CD4 dropped to 148 from 207 but still much better than the 21 I had when I was diagnosed.  I understand this can flucuate so I do not want to get to worrried at this point but I was a little disappointed.  I guess I have to remember this is a marathon and not a sprint.....Anyway just wanted to share.

Steve

Don't lose hope. Your VL is UD so that's awesome. I read around here that CD4 counts take time to climb up. Don't fret. Stay on your meds and everything will work out in the long run.
Jan 2011 Tested HIV positive
01/2011 CD4 189 / VL 79,000
03/20/2012 CD4 133 (10%) / VL 46,000
03/28/2012 started bactrim ds
04/04/2012 started complera
05/24/2012 CD4 255 (17%) / VL 53
06/25/2012 stopped bactrim ds

Very true, it's a marathon not a sprint. Technically, your CD4 counts are the same (at least +/- 50 variance on CD4 tests). Undetectable is very good  :)

Great results, congrats!

It took me almost a year to go UD. As the others have said it is a marathon, I started meds around 300 cd4's and almost 5 years later I am at 914 :)

Congrats on being UD!  That is one hell of an amazing response from over one million to UD.

Thanks ted.  I do feel extremely lucky to get UD so quickly given where I was at.  My diagnosis seems so long ago now even though its only been 6 months.  I guess I am coming up on my 6 month anniversary too....I might have to take myself out to dinner  :P

Great to hear all of this!  I actually had a minor dip in my numbers a couple of time but over the years the number keeps rising so keep on keeping on.
