threesome same condom

Hi, I was involved in a threesome with two other guys and participated as one of the bottoms.

The top wore a condom.

I am unsure of the HIV status of any of the guys.

I saw the top get behind the first bottom, and then about 30 secs to a minute later I looked around and the top was not erect.

The bottom guy said that he didn't penetrate, but i thought I saw that he had.
After a couples of minutes the top got hard again and penetrated me, without changing the condom.

The top had also spat on his cock to lube it up prior to penetrating me.

Because I am not convinced that he didn't penetrate the first guy, I was a bit anxious. The first bottom guy told me that he was "clean".

I went to the clinic and started PEP 42 hours after the event. The clinic thought that while my risk was low, there was still a risk and I am on one Truvada pill a day.

A couple of questions for you experts:

1. Assuming that the top did penetrate the first bottom, because he had his penis out in the air for a few minutes (can't be quite sure how long) and he spat on his cock, do you think the chances of any HIV on the condom are minimal, due to the quick dying nature of HIV.

2. Not sure if the HIV would of dried out though, given that there was lube on the condom.

3. With me being on PEP are my chances even more minimal.

Hi Will , You didn't have a risk and here is why .

1. Assuming that the top did penetrate the first bottom, because he had his penis out in the air for a few minutes (can't be quite sure how long) and he spat on his cock, do you think the chances of any HIV on the condom are minimal, due to the quick dying nature of HIV.

HIV is damaged instantly when exposed to oxygen and there are also proteins and enzymes that damage HIV rendering it unable to infect , so spitting on a condom isn't infectious . 

2. Not sure if the HIV would of dried out though, given that there was lube on the condom.

HIV doesn't have to dry to become damaged , it simply needs to leave the confine of the human body and be exposed to air , then its damaged instantly .   

3. With me being on PEP are my chances even more minimal.

You never had a risk to begin with so yeah , its not minimal its a given , if you were HIV negative before the 3 way you are still HIV negative now . We see healthcare workers give PEP in cases like this and it just blows my mind that they do , you didn't need PEP .

I wasn't so worried about the spit. More worried about rectal secretions on the condom from the first bottom.

Stop worrying. Even if he did penetrate the first bottom (sounds like he didn't), it did not present a risk to you.

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture levels all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect.

Add on to that the fact that he spat on the condom before entering you and it's even more clear that you had no risk. Not only is saliva not infectious, but it also contains over a dozen different proteins and enzymes that damage hiv and render it unable to infect.

You haven't had a risk and you certainly do NOT need PEP.
