I was wondering if there are any COPD patients on here who would like to help me organize a clinical trial at NIH as well as various investigator sites?  If so, please contact the NIH at 800-772-5464 toll-free, 301-592-8573 and tell them that you would like the NIH to do a human study of the DNA vaccine developed by Dr. Eyal at the University of California San Diego Medical Center http://health.dailynewscentral.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=196
This treatment has been shown to reverse the damage, scarring, and narrowing of the airways in mice.  The treatment has been given to a few humans.

Although the paper to cure asthma was reported in 2004, UC San Diego reports that no drug company has picked up this human trial.  Since asthma is one of the biggest money makers for a number of drug companies, I am wondering if there is some financial interest preventing this study from going forward.

COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) is the 4th biggest killer in the country and well on its way to becoming number 3.  In spite of this, an amazing number of hiv patients and clinicians don't even know what it is.  If you are an hiv patient, the condition is much worse because of a shortage of t-cells to moderate the loss of beta interferon in hiv patients with asthma. As a result, your respiratory infections with asthma and hiv are more likely to be severe and your more prone to scarring and damage of the lung.

If you have asthma, are over the age of 40, there is a good chance you will leave this world from COPD.  There is no cure for COPD and very poor treatment available for the condition.  some doctors might offer you oxygen.  If you are under the age of 50, and both lungs fail, they might offer you a lung transplant.  And as a result, you might live 5 years if you are lucky enough to get off of the operating room table.

I came down with COPD (pulmonary fibrosis) after contracting the swine flu in May 2009 and I ended up loosing my right lung.  After doing extensive reading online, I came to the conclusion that there are treatment options for repairing the lung, but no one has stepped forward to do something about it.

I urge you to call the NIH today and ask them to pick this study up so that patients may access treatment via the NIH.  If you are affiliated with a Pulmonologist with an interest in allergy and asthma research, I encourage you to get them to become an investigator.
