I first heard about this woman, a few days ago, and was only able to watch a very small clip on CNN. This is the first time i've viewed this clip !  She has a wonderful voice ! She going to go places !!

On one of the stations ( leading up to the clip and introduction),  A woman said,   "the 47 year old spinster... " .

Really, does anyone say spinster anymore?  :P

Thanks for sharing...

Ray

Ms. Boyle is not a one-trick pony.  Here is the first and only recording she made, in 1999, for a charity benefit.  She sings "Cry Me a River."  Just gorgeous.

Oh dear. I live in the UK (sorta) and this is the first I've heard of Miss Boyle. I don't watch any of the talent shows and I haven't even been watching the news or buying newspapers recently - haven't been watching telly at all in the past month or so, except for Shameless, Pushing Daisies and Desperate Housewives. (how sad am I?)

So thanks, Mike, for posting the link. The first time I watched it, I did indeed smile. The second time I watched it brought tears to my eyes. She's absolutely incredible and I hope she finds the success and recognition she deserves. As I haven't been watching telly lately, I'm not sure, but after looking at some of the websites associated with her or talking about her, it seems like she's a bigger hit in the States than she is over here.

Thanks again Mike, that clip made my day.

Ann

PS - you can bet she'll appear on the Royal Variety and will meet the Queen (unfortunately, she'll probably have to meet Philip as well! LOL). I'm really happy for her - what a voice! What a lovely, down to earth woman! Fantastic stuff.

I watched the original link several times since I first discovered it a week ago, and I've cried every time.  It's the classic Cinderella story.  I must admit the TV guys did a terrific  job with the editing:  the reaction shots, the background music, etc.  It's like an old-fashioned Hollywood tear-jerker movie, but the story plays out its complete arc in only seven minutes.  I think the story has become such an international sensation also because of the parlous times in which we live.

Shameless is in series 6 here - and there's been some very unexpected twists and turns. I hear they're cutting season 7 back down to only six or so episodes; something to do with the economy. Hmph! As for BeastBenders, that show has too much gloom and doom for my liking. I only watch when there's a major scandal/storyline going on. Corry and Emmerdale at least both have comedy in the mix - more like real life, if you ask me.

Wow again, following her recent appearance on BGT, I listened to her "Cry Me A River" ( thanks to edfu) and I am stunned. If one does not know how she looks, and just by listening to her voice, one may easily imagine that she possess the finese and looks of veteran singers like Peggy Lee, Diana Krall or some jazzy blues artiste. Truly amazing and gifted. Wishing her every great success she deserves.  Brilliant! :-*

Very nice voice.  But treated very poorly by the judges, the audience and the folks that edit the show (well at first).  She comes on stage, they roll their eyes.  She says her age, they roll their eyes.  What...people in their 40s and not-so-attractive folks can't sing!?!

No, not BeastBenders it's EASTENDERS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ows-wRWgDMc&feature=PlayList&p=5B5448CDCA6FB762&index=0&playnext=1 the brit soap opera, is what I meant, we had that brit soap a few yrs. back, and I got hooked on it, but, BBC-America (our brit cable channel) took it off the air in 2004 or 2005, now they show Bad Girls, the women of locke hall, it's in it's 7th or 8 th season here in the US, on our LGBT's LOGO Channel............

hehehehe... BeastBenders is my nickname for Eastenders. I've been calling it that since 1992, long before that bloke made his (quite funny) Beastenders video. I love the Pat Evans/Butcher spider - and Ian Beale as evil doctor trying to kill the Mitchells is hilarious too.

And just in case anyone's wondering, Corry is the national nickname for Coronation Street, another British soap.

Cliff, Hollyoaks? Oh dear. Dear oh dear oh dear! Nuff said LOL ;D

I think they should give Miss Boyle a part on Emmerdale. She could give concerts in the village hall. ;)
