Just saying hi
« on: December 16, 2011, 03:28:59 pm »
I've been a lurker since I was diagnosed in May.  I've learned a lot from reading everyone's questions and posts here, but figured it was time to join in.

I dove right into treatment when I was diagnosed since my CD4 count was below 200.  My doctor started me on Truvada + Prezista/Norvir.  After over 6 months of treatment my CD4 count is 734 and my viral load is just above undetectable at 63 copies.  My doctor said he'd shoot me if I wasn't undetectable with the next visit, lol.  I also just finished a support group that picks up again at the end of January.

Aside from that, I'm a bit of a geek.  If you couldn't tell, I'm really into the A Song of Ice and Fire books series, which is the basis for the HBO show Game of Thrones.  I miss Battlestar Galactica, but am thankful that Doctor Who is still running.  I work in healthcare and have a 2-year old dog that keeps me company.

Yes, welcome to the forums. They are certainly a good place to learn about, as well as how to live with HIV. Sounds like you're going great, health wise. Have a nice holiday.

Welcome to the forums Kevin! I'm glad you've decided to join in.

I've just started reading A Game of Thrones a couple of weeks ago. It's a very interesting series. I've seen the HBO shows and that got me interested in reading the books. I'm a big Doctor Who fan as well :D

I still have to catch up on the last half of the season that just ended.  "The Doctor's Wife" is still my favorite of the first half.

And I just realized that I've met someone from here already (aupointillimite), and he's a pretty awesome guy.

The second half of this season is pretty good! You'll like it! My favorite episodes were the ones with Donna Noble as the companion, LOVE Catherine Tate  :D

wolfter - I love the quote in your signature.

Thanks to the world of Facebook, I come across different sayings that strike my fancy and I promptly steal them for my own benefit.  I agree though, that is an awesome quote that I used to have a huge problem obeying.  Now it's only a moderate problem. ;D

I just wanted to update: I'm officially undetectable as of this past Tuesday.  I'm definitely happy about that.
